My visit to Cromford Mills and the Arkwright Experience was an insightful journey back in time, truly bringing to life the pivotal role this site played in the Industrial Revolution. As the birthplace of the modern factory system, it's a place steeped in history, and the experience does an excellent job wright Experience: A Highlight The highlight for me was undoubtedly the "Arkwright Experience" itself. own specific observations]: The CGI/holographic presentation of Sir Richard Arkwright was incredibly engaging. It was fascinating to hear his story in his "own words" and truly understand his vision and the challenges he faced. The technology used really brought the history to life. The immersive audio-visual elements created a palpable sense of what it would have been like to work in the mills. The guided tour provided was incredibly informative. The passion and knowledge of the guides really enhanced the understanding of Arkwright's innovations and their impact. Beyond the Experience: Beyond the core Arkwright Experience, Cromford Mills offers so much more to explore. I particularly Mill 1, the Gateway exhibition, the model of the Derwent Valley Mills WHS]. The atmosphere of the mill yard and surrounding buildings. It's incredible to see how well preserved and repurposed these historic structures are, now housing independent shops and cafes. The connection to Cromford Village. the village, deepened your understanding of the workers' lives and Arkwright's complete vision for his industrial community]. Accessibility and Facilities: The site was [easy/challenging] to navigate, with good clear signage, helpful staff, The [café/shops] offered [good range/interesting items] and were a welcome addition to the visit. Conclusion: The Cromford Mills Arkwright Experience is a must-visit for anyone interested in industrial history, engineering, or simply understanding how the world we live in today was shaped. It's a truly engaging and educational experience that left me with a profound appreciation for Richard Arkwright's ingenuity and the immense impact of Cromford Mills. I would highly recommend allocating a few hours, half a day] to fully explore...

These mills are a blast from the past absolute classic structures and beautifully made. We visited today on the special event comic con and were part of the Aspire Wrestling watching matches all day long. There were a number of characters from past movies and tv shows in attendance. There was a darlek wandering around all afternoon screeching I am a darlek......exterminate, exterminate. The ghostbusters were on board along with slimer but I tell you something pal........I ain't afraid of no ghost! From outta nowhere I noticed John Cena watching the wrestling but then it was like magic and I couldn't see him again. The rocks 🪨 music hit the pa system then without saying abra cadabra the crew from star trek appeared, beam me up scotty. You just couldn't make this stuff up, I went for an ice cream, glanced over my shoulder and rod Stewart was stood talking to doctor who and darth vader unbelievable Geoff. Even Henry the hoover got in on the action as the nottingham remote controlled boat men sent him for a swim. Richard arkwright would be a proud man after today's event, well done cromford mills on a cracking comic con event and all other eateries, stalls, wrestlers, comic characters and general public who made the day enjoyable. Toilets were also top notch standard today, no complaints there and the cafe on site is a little cracker. Same time same place next year? Who ya gonna...

Part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, Cromford Mills offers an immersive look at the industry that put this area on the map. The mills were built in the mid 18th century and were the first commercially successful water powered cotton mills in the world. They were productive until steam power replaced water power in commercial mills, after which point they saw a number of other uses. In 1979 the Arkwright Society purchased the site to ensure its preservation, and over subsequent decades restored the buildings and returned the site to its original layout. Today it incorporates a café, boutique shops and workshops. Cromford Mills is free to visit, but for visitors looking to learn more, paid guided tours are available. Information panels around the site provide a brief summary of its history and notable features. Worth a visit to see an exceptionally well preserved industrial area, which also serves as a good starting point for walks around the village and further afield along the canal path. While visiting, other areas worth seeing include the Mill Pond, North Street (a row of perfectly preserved workers cottages), and Masson Mills (a larger mill which superseded Cromford Mills). There's paid parking no more than 5...
