Nice pub inside, noisy but a holiday feel about it, BUT , on arrival they couldn't find the booking that we had made earlier in the week, this should have given us the clue to leave. the bar staff member that serviced ours drinks was friendly but was interrupted by a very rude long blonde haired woman who took over, when we said we had a table booked for 6.30 she seemed very put out when she couldn't find the booking and that it was somehow our fault, she gave me the impression we should have then said we can wait for an opening . My husband ordered the steak from the menu and I had the beef and vegetable pie that was on the specials board. The pub was very busy with a lot of people hanging around the bar which made things difficult when trying to order food as you had to go to the bar to order it, 20 minutes later the food came out, Frozen chips (no great surprise there) my husbands steak looked lovely, my pie not so much, this was a pot pie ummm (stew in a dish ) I cut into my pie lid to find the pastry raw, I didn't want to make a fuss, so quickly slipped to the end of the bar and told the blond haired server that it wasn't cooked, i sat back down and she quickly came around the bar and snatched my plate away without even a sorry, leaving my husbands plate behind. (we had come for a meal together surely his should have gone back as well) 20 minutes later my meal arrived cooked this time but my husband had finished his food , the server asked if i would like a free drink, but i was only drinking coke and i couldn't drink a second one. I also couldn't eat my food the stew in the dish resembled warmed up dog food, i also don't like eating on my own when I've come out with my husband who ended up sitting waiting, by this point I'd had enough , my evening was ruined so after a couple of mouthfuls I left it and walked out leaving a full plate of...

Honestly amazed at all the 'happy' customers. Arrived to find our booking hadn't even been reserved despite confirming the date with them, twice over the phone. They 'luckily' had a table upstairs available which basically enjoys the view of a room full of junk. We placed our drinks order quickly but then waited 20 minutes to order our food and that was only because we asked. We then waited almost 35 minutes for our food to arrive. We visited on steak night where they'd run out of fillet steak by 6:10pm! I ordered a 16oz sirloin instead ....medium well as I'm aware this isn't the most succulent of steaks. It came well done, more than well done. I could barely cut it let alone chew it and sadly had to leave some which I hate doing when I'm eating meat. The accompanying food was v good but the steaks...even the fillets my family had were dry dry dry. So disappointed. We couldn't even order a dessert as our table had to be vacated by 7:30pm and due to it taking 1hr40 we had run out of time. Poor poor poor service and rock hard steak left a bitter taste in our mouths....

Our son had arranged an informal wedding reception at the Boat Inn, with guests turning up at any time from about 1615 onwards on a Saturday night. As the date approached, weather conditions seemed a bit variable and uncertain, so some last-minute contingency plans were hastily arranged and implemented. We also had some specific (if minor) catering requirements to accommodate on top of the standard fare. Throughout the planning process, my son and his bride-to-be received every support they needed to ensure that their special day would proceed as planned. And, indeed, it did. From the moment when we began to arrive, everything was managed smoothly and efficiently. From the choice of celebratory fizz, through a wide selection of canapes, a barbecued meal, salads, drinks, and even a cheese course …… absolutely everything was delivered in a friendly and professional manner. The disco was a success too! Everyone enjoyed the event – so a big thank-you to the management and...

We decided to visit here whilst in Cromford after visiting White Peak Distillery not to far away. Whilst visiting here the four of us decided to go for all three courses; starters, main & dessert. For starters we had the soup of the day & nachos sharer. Both were good, however it would have been nice to have sour cream & guacamole on the nachos too. For mains I personally chose the gammon & egg, this was cooked & tasted just right. My wife & two friends also liked their main meals. For dessert I decided to go for the chocolate brownie, with ice cream which worked well. I decided to go for the brownie, with ice cream which worked well & my decided to go for the treacle sponge, which you don’t get often on dessert menus, but tasted great. This would definitely be a place to visit again if in the area.

This is a little hidden gem. We initially went to the greyhound but there was only seating for dining. So we walked up the hill 50yards to find the Boat Inn and I'm so glad we did. Super friendly staff, don't be intimidated by the tables set up for diners only. We asked if we could stay for a drink and was told by the barman, "of course you can, sit wherever you like" Wish we hadn't already eaten because the food looked delicious and I could hear everyone saying how nice it was to the staff. This pub has a lovely country pub ambience about it, set off by the simple fairy lights on the dark beams. We will be back for food next time. I suggest you give it a whirl, you wont be disappointed.

We called in for a beer and upon arrival I saw the most immense portion of pie. We changed up the ‘just a beer’ situation for a fully committed three course food fest! By the the end of the ciabatta and Brie starter we were ‘normal’ full, by the end of steak and stilton pie we were ‘Christmas Day’ full, by the end of the treacle sponge we were ‘last day of a two week all inclusive (with alcohol) holiday’ full. Every mouthful was amazing. Thanks for a great impromptu smorgasbord!
