Good fishing in a pleasant location. Good roach and perch (red maggot works well). Tench and carp can be elusive. And yes, there are some small pike in there. Quite a snaggy place to fish with submerged branches and twigs, plus overhanging trees in most swims (hence not 5 stars). Plenty of wildlife, including ducks, kingfishers, dragonflies, etc. Can be noisy at times with passers by, dog walkers and school kids, but generally peaceful during the week. Fishing pegs aren't too muddy and many are flat enough for those fishing from a wheelchair. All in all, well worth the annual license fee (available from Homestores tackle), especially if you live locally. Work to clear overgrown trees and erect fences has recently finished and the surrounding woods are nice to walk through. The two lower lakes can be seen more clearly and paths are in the process of being resurfaced. Nice...
Read moreRecently moved to the area and was told it was a beautiful place tp visit. So one sunny morning we took a walk up there. Its disgusting and hasnt been well maintained or looked after. There was rubbish galore in the "lakes" and all around the edges too...especially around the bins where they hadnt been emptied!! The amount of rats we saw made us feel sick...yes its an area that should be encouraging nature but ill be suprised if there is anything other than rats! Please...

There has been a lot of tree felling going on but as my first trip I don't know why. A decent if short walk, but nice to explore somewhere different from usual. Today the lakes had partially frozen which resulted in ducks that could walk on water as they skated...
