Not sure if regular occurrence but loads of sea weed washed up again making swimming difficult. The surrounding area is beautiful all year round, take a costal walk if you don't fancy the beach and listen for the whistle of the nearby steam train as it trundles along its track above the beach on the cliff side walk.
