A real disappointment after looking forward to playing here for some time. A friendly welcome from the Pro Shop & lady serving in the bar was quickly undone by the mutterings of the long-time members who seemingly quantify their enjoyment by how quickly they complete the round and get off. Loud mumblings of slow play aimed our way in total ignorance to the backlog building ahead & no engagement in polite small talk - totally opposite to the experience at Torquay the day before, or Mendip Spring the day before that. Finally, to not be told before arriving that the greens were under routine maintenance is poor. Our golf trip to the South West was planned around a final game at Churston - and it was all a bit of a flat ending. So much so that we were very keen to pack the clubs away and head for the exit. Generally the course was OK - but comfortably the scruffiest of the 3 we played in the region... perhaps we caught it...
