I visit Slades Farm park every day to dog walk my elderly Golden Retriever. The park is adjacent to a wooded area, but has a criss cross amount of tarmac laid pathways, around the perimeters and through the central area where there is a Velodrome for recreation and organized cycle training and racing. It also has a path around the fenced banked track of the velodrome, good for walking but entertaining on race and training days when it is restricted ONLY to organized groups with Trainers. There is also a Cafe open, currently, 7 days a week. This is a very nice area for recreation, but can at times attract electric scooters (privately owned), that tend to run faster than intended, and so you should be aware of this as there is very little consideration by the users for other pathway users on foot and also those with animal pets exercising. This is reducing, but still present on occasions, but should not put you off using this excellent facility. If you are a football fan, there is Slades 3D soccer pitches, again an organized setup, and for Cricket fans, there is usually an organised match at weekends, again very entertaining. Try it, the people are generally very friendly and helpful who use the park and it is a pleasant walking, play area for children with slides, swings, zip line etc, and there is also a dedicated dog area with training obstacles for them....
Read moreSlades Farm is a wonderful out doors place to get your daily excersise done. A new tarmaced path surrounds the park and playing fields making it an ideal place to walk your dogs or take your little ones for a bit of fresh air. The skate park is well positioned for active teens and below to let off steam with a huge variety of ramps, jumps, bowls and obstacles for them to practice on their skateboards scooters and trick bikes. For the little ones an enclosed play area offering the usual swings and slides plus a tree house and zip wire. The open playing fields are well used by the local football and rugby teams and with luck you can watch a Google match between two local community teams. The more adventurous can go deep into the woods to play and may stumble upon the beautiful little church of St Marks or the little school (which is one of the favourites with the Chelsea Tractor brigade) and the picturesque alms cottages next door. History abounds in this ancient woodland with its little village which is right opposite Bournemouths main University and new Talbot Woods housing...
Read moreAbsolutely love coming here. Child friend. Dog friendly. And a great place for a walk/cycle. It also has a skate park area and impressive velodrome. The café offers a fab variety of drinks and nibbles (the sausage rolls are epic btw) with really friendly volunteers. I have volunteered here last year and loved it. So if anyone reading this has a few hrs spare once a week and wants to get out of the house, meet new people, and want to get involved in the community, I highly recommended you look into volunteering. I visit Slades normally once a week to have a outdoor socially distant acceptable walk with my mum, so having the café hatch open feels like a real treat where we can have a coffee on the go...
