A beautiful park gifted to the town by the Victorians, maintained by dedicated grounds staff, presented with many donations and memorials but allowed to be destroyed by youth at night, facilitated by Hartlepool Council, who sadly do not have a good record entrusted in preserving the towns heritage. What is a real shame is several years ago the Council replaced the substantial Victorian perimeter 6 food railings with inferior 4 foot (cheap) railings. So when the gates use to be locked at night it didn't stop the youth from accessing and claiming it for the night, whilst the railings prevented policing by police, dog walkers, joggers and responsible people cutting through. Read moreA great Park with lots of lovely walkways and places to sit and relax. There is a lake, fountain, band-stand, formal garden, woodland area, children's playground, cafe, toilets and bowling green. There are a few disabled parking spaces within the park next to the cafe. And a free car park located on the opposite side of the road just up from the main gate. The car park is un-paved so can get a bit muddy at times. I wouldn't recommend using it in snow or ice, as two four-wheel drive vehicles got stuck, although my little car managed it OK. Dogs are allowed in the park on a lead, although many people ignore this and let their...
