Absolutely wonderful beach, much easier to walk to on the sand than lots of others as it is a small incline. Lovely sand, not overcrowded when we went at all. The water was even warm! And you could get quite far out paddling before it got deep.

Car park which is easy to pay in several ways, public toilets (there are several blocks along the beach, the ones next to this patch weren’t the best but better than none!), an outside shower for cleaning off.

We even got lucky with an ice cream man. Our new favourite beach I think, reminds us of being in Ireland with the sand dunes 🤗

A few things to remember:

• I would bare in mind is that the toilets are seasonal so won’t be open all year round. • Our directions took us to little stone beach which is just further along the coast line and FULL OF STONES. Great stone seems to be a small patch of sand between so I’m glad we didn’t give up. • Dogs are allowed on this beach, there was even a cat! Just in case you have children who aren’t confident around animals.

We are a family of 6, with children aged between 13 - 8...

It’s a good beach for a picnic — if you don’t want to touch or go near the water.

But if you’re hoping to swim and the tide is low, be warned: it’s HORRIBLE — especially when the tide is out.

At first, you’ll see a bit of sand and think it’s perfect. But very quickly, the sand ends and you’re left with nothing but clay, with maybe a little sand mixed in.

The moment you step into it, your feet start sinking, and you can feel the cold, sticky squelch of clay between your toes. Even once you reach the water, it’s still clay underneath, and you keep sinking.

When you’re coming back to shore, your feet are covered in thick black sludge — nearly up to your knees. 🙁😭 Yaks, yaks, yaks.

There’s no...

I've been kitesurfing for over 20 years in many places, but the closest to my heart is Greatstone Beach, because of consistency wind, endless lagoons with flat water perfect for free style and beginners, Also on high and mid thighs plenty of clean waves for waves riding and boosting big air. Greatstone beache is surrounded by stunning Dungeness emptiness. People are very friendly and if you or in doubt or want enrich your knowledge about kitesurf art go to @infinitysportkitesurfingschool, Paweł and Sylwia are absolutely super stars in the sport and always happy to help you and share they knowledge. Happy kiting and see you on the water. Just no silly people,...

My favourite beach spot in Kent! After learning to kite surf, this has become THE spot to go to. Clean, beautiful and so much around to explore. There’s great amenities on site: toilets and parking. Local to the spot is the infinity kite sport centre and a great local chippy. After finding the kite shop, I’ve been welcomed into a great community called “girls kite together” and the fun since joining hasn’t stopped after leaving the beach. Event, BBQs, winter movie nights, you name it. Thanks to this beach I have truly found my people. Can’t wait to get out here over the Christmas break for long walks and a spot of kiting 🪁🏄‍♀️ #girlskitetogether
