Have been visiting Romney once a year for the past 6 years and always make a point of visiting this pub as the foods great and the staff were always courteous and friendly. However this year I decided to pop in and try and book a table for myself, wife & child and our 4 friends for half 7. I was told there’s no need to book and just to come on in. Unfortunately due to traffic our friends did not arrive till after 7 so we arrived about 8. I apologised to the guy on duty whom I’d tried to book the table through and rudely told they’d stopped serving food. Firstly, what kind of pub advertising as a bar & grill stops food at 8pm on a Friday, & secondly, if I’m looking to book for 7:30, do you not think it would be wise to tell people that food stops at 8?! He then tried to lie to me that he “try to tell me” that food stopped at 8 which was a blatant lie to my face. We had told our friends what a great place this was and was left looking stupid. I don’t honestly believe that food had stopped either, I just think you couldn’t be bothered to serve dinner to non-locals. It’s such a shame as we always looked forward to an evening at The Jolly Fisherman on our visit to Romney but after this disgraceful event we will not...

Had a fantastic meal at Goan Spice Restaurant at the Jolly Fisherman in Greatstone for my anniversary. Thankyou Bob for taking me, and thankyou Patricia and Dad for paying. As soon as we walked in, the chef handed me a Happy Anniversary card, he made me a completely gluten-free meal, and after the main when he asked if I would like a pancake with icecream, and I said I couldn't because of the wheatflour, he said "no, it's ok, we will make you one with cornflour", so I said "yes please". Afterwards, he asked if it was ok, and when I said yes, he said "good, we've never made it before, but we wanted to make something just for you, so you could enjoy your anniversary". There was also a couple at the bar, and we overheard the lady say "do you have anything without onion or garlic, as I have problems with both. The chef said "choose anything on the menu, and we will make it for you without those items, or anything else that would make it unpleasant for you - everything is made to order, so it's not a problem for us" I'm not sure who was more gob-smacked - the lady placing the order, or me!! I can't believe the place isn't packed out, 7 days a week! Please - visit it, enjoy your meal, and help spread the...

Walked in seemed ok inside and outside till I see a dog up at the table with guest and dirty nappies on the window ledge that someone had left then going to the bar and the clean cups was dirty so we left wouldn't recommend this place at all

Replying to your rude response.. If your place is dog friendly or not however there should not be a dog sitting on a chair up at a dinner table fullstop and for you saying you don't use cups you knew exactly what I meant there was 3 GLASSES YOU HAD USED TO PUT MY DRINKS INTO AND EVERY SINGLE ONE WAS DIRTY 1.BITS OF LEMON AROUND THE GLASS 2.SOME RED STUFF AROUND THE TOP OF ANOTHER GLASS 3.LIPSTICK AROUND THE TOP OF ANOTHER GLASS THE RESPONSE WAS ITS ONLY LIPSTICK ALL GLASSES SHOULD BE CLEANED PROPERLY also for 2 dirty nappies by the window they was still there when myself and the others I was with left there 5 minutes later the table was already cleaned may I add you have to give me a refund for my drinks also due to the...

A beautiful example of what pubs used to be in the best way - friendly staff, honest food, and decor that gave me a flashback to my childhood. This is the opposite from a gastropub. We came for Sunday lunch without a booking and they fitted us in. The food was tasty, was it the most amazing Sunday roast I’ve ever eaten? Maybe not (however the roast potatoes were simply amazing), but it was a decent, tasty carvery with good meat and staff who obviously cared about food and making their customers happy. Strongly recommended for the experience and atmosphere.

We saw an advert on Facebook about The Jolly Fisherman, booked in for a Saturday evening meal and a Sunday carvery for four people and two dogs (yes a dog friendly pub), as we were staying overnight in the campervans. The owners are very welcoming, and the support staff do them proud, paying attention to our order as one of our party has a wheat alergy. Great food especially the carvery on Sunday. The whole expierience was brilliant and we can't wait to go back.

Stopped for a couple of drinks on a sunny Saturday afternoon & ended up staying! Really good live singer in the garden. Owners & staff so friendly & welcoming. Was allowed to park our camper there overnight so drank some more & had some food which with really amazing. Looking forward to going back there soon. Highly recommend as just an all round lovely place. Beach opposite is beautiful.
