Parish Church of St Mary & St Eanswythe, Folkestone — Attraction in Folkestone and Hythe District

This is a beautiful and ancient church. It is filled with so much history and one can enjoy its charm and spend time in meditation. There are numerous stained glass windows such asThe Children's Window, The Communion Window both by Kempe and the Baptism Window and the Confirmation Window both by Henning. These are in the South Aisle. It is interesting to look at the tombstone of Rebecca Rogers as it records her disapproval of the chimney tax and an exacting landlord. You are able to purchase detailed guides of the history of the church and St Eanswythe. I attended an exhibition of art work by local artists from FAS today which was very interesting. Although I haven't visited this church for years, it was a VERY special place to seek some tranquillity in the chaos of modern Folkestone. I lived in The Metropole, on The Lee's, for almost 32 months...and regularly sought out this church for quiet contemplation.

Wonderful sense of history and you will feel that you are in a precious and beautiful place.
