A great wee place to visit though I think the castle and it's signage is in real need of an upgrade and clean up. That said the portions of the ruin are easily reachable and safe though the external views are much better than what is still visible inside. External views are great with some awesome views up from the beach. The grass areas directly adjacent are well kept have some lovely seat and some public BBQ stands. The stoney beach and "maze" to the left of the castle are easily reached down steps/grass but these paths are not maintained so attempt at your own risk. There's plenty of parking, though I believe there is normally a nominal charge (Was open when we were there. Additionally there is a great wee play park and tarmac court of...

Part of the amazing history of Scotland, Dunure castle invokes romantic ideas of living in an age long gone. Local parking, which does have opening and closing times, is next to this site with access to a small play park and a large grassed area with picnic tables scattered in secluded grassed areas along the cliff tops. The castle it’s self is a ruin but there is restricted access in to it via steel stairs. We’ve been visiting for 12 years now, and it never disappoints. If your a keen photographer there are opportunities here, but you have to work for them. It’s worth the short walk down to the harbour as well. I hope this review has been of some help. And I hope you enjoy your visit. An ā€œOutlanderā€ film enthusiast place to visit as it features...

Car park to pay at the top of the hill and walk down. Possibly recommend taking advantage of the two hour free parking if spaces down in the harbour and walking up as not masses to do for more than 2 hours unless you're staying for lunch or a picnic. Lovely kept ruin with some plaques giving you information. The plaques were a bit weathered, but there were some beautiful views from the top part and metal staircase installed and dangerous parts restricted. If you walk down the hill a little as if going onto the beach there was a waterfall. There was a cafe and some restaurants which looked nice down near the harbour. If you've got young kids there is a lovely play area above the castle where you pay to park. We enjoyed it, worth a look and...

Beautiful surroundings. To look around the castle will not take long as it is ruins and there is only stair case to access. However its location is perfect for families as there is a fantastic park on the grounds and a small harbour to walk to as well as well as a little beach front. It cost £2 to park but could stay until 10pm. There is a little cafe and lots of space for a picnic. When we went it was the day of the village fun day which was a great surprise and it had some lovely little stalls and an ice cream van. The locals were really friendly and very inviting. We also took our dog and he seemed to love it just as much as we did! Especially when we accessed the beach front. There are toilet facilities too.
