A superb centre which caters for people who love outdoor activities whether on foot, or bicycle, set amidst beautiful and interesting country at the meeting of two dales. Arkengarthdale, with it's rich lead mining heritage bears the scars of this activity but it is all the more fascinating as a result. For instance the tiny local history museum in the Old School House in Keld has free admission daily (donations welcome). Many of the items were originally in the Swaledale Museum in Reeth (£5). I went and was pleased that I had, thanks to the helpful person in the Visitor Centre.
