This is one of our favorite museums anywhere. First of all, it's very comfortable. It occupies two floors in an interesting building. Secondly, they have such easy to understand displays that teach you about the long and fascinating history of Swaledale. From the stone age through lead mining, they cover it all. Plenty of artifacts and photos give a nice personal touch. Helen Clifford is a gem and is very knowledgeable and helpful.

A little out of the way but well worth the effort (Head over to the post office there is a sign outside one of the entrances). The Museum is small but packed with loads of local information and full items on display. On the day of our visit the Lady that was there (It's Volunteer run), was so welcoming.
