One of the best walks in the North East. Starting from Craster as you walk south through the village, the path starts by a children’s play area which also has some picnic benches. The first part of the walk is over a very open segment next to the coast and it is very windy, but after that it becomes a bit more sheltered. I started off quite cold and wondered if I underdressed for the weather but warmed up fast.
As you get towards Howick, the path briefly runs alongside the road and you will see a bin in a lay-by (very easy to spot), so if you have any coffee cups etc with you, you can dispose of them there.
The walk is wonderfully scenic, it takes you right along the coastline past beaches, rock formations, cliffs and a few great viewing points for a photo or a good soak of the gorgeous views.
You will see the most amazing house sitting overlooking the coast (photo attached), it is actually a holiday rental called the Bathing House which you can book for a week!
Just past the little house, there is a row of white houses called Seahouses Cottages. We read a notice that the path continuing south a long the coast from there will be closed from 7th June for 2 weeks due to the council doing maintenance. It said that the path was closed for 6 months from May however it would only be physically closed for these 2 weeks - I assume this is a request to not use the paths in this time so we stopped there to explore the interesting beach which is sheltered by some little cliffs (climb up the nearest one then look down! Amazing views) then turned round and went back to Craster.
Beautiful walk and we saw no litter at all which is so lovely, let’s keep...
