My Mum is from Bournemouth and some of my family are from Bournemouth and Christchurch and the South of England.
I have been travelling to Southbourne, Bournemouth all my life and I love it. My family have a holiday flat close to the sea in Southbourne,...
Read moreIt's good because it's close to Bournemouth with a gental sloping sandy beach - without the crowds.
BUT... There are pebbles and stones. They are annoyingly found at the water's edge when trying to get in the cold water requires a bit of decorum! It is quite uncomfortable getting in and out of the water. I much prefer Sand Banks or Canford Cliffs.

Parking is free along the coast road but get there early, as in before 08:45 to get a space. Or, park in the...

The water is very clean, and it's possible to see the sea bottom.
There's a smooth path along most of the beach with joint use with cyclists. The path is at the same level as the beach.
Toilets are available, but the gents are only accessible via a flight of steps up. The ladies is more accessible with a path leading off the ramp down to the beach.
A good sized pay and display car park is available on the level between beach and street level. Like all other car parks around this area, it has a height restriction.
The ramp leading down from there makes the beach fully accessible, though having a powered wheelchair would help greatly getting back up the...
