The Schooner — Restaurant in England

Came here as part of a Christmas lunch with my mum's writers' club. Haven't been before and didn't know what to expect. The husband and wife team were lovely, warm.and welcoming. Thankfully this place was licensed and shared a locally produced bottled beer with my mother. Menu was pre-ordered and it was good, home-cooked food (the veg could've done with a bit of something). I had the fish and it was really tasty served with a lovely sauce, everyone else enjoyed their meals too. Portion sizes were a bit too big for me and hated having to leave food on my plate. Coffee was excellent. The prices were extremely reasonable.

When in there today where my partner for breakfast it was okay how can this be okay as a chef the sausages was overdone and I don't know if they know how to cook an egg this kind of food should not happen on the high Street as for the Sunday lunch if you can call it that I think everything's frozen not a proper sandy lunch are these people run a cafe and care for food they're just doing it for the money and nothing else I don't know how long this place was open for but please please do not go to this place they only want your money to not care about the food I did try one of their cakes I thinkit freezer for 3 months and some fact guy cooking breakfast wiping he's nose on is arm they're just doing it for the old people we've got money and don't care...

Visited today with my husband and 2 children age 7 and 10 for brunch. We arrived at 9.40, as website advertised as open at 9.30am. This wasn't too much of an issue. We waited outside for a couple of minutes and the owner let us in. We were greeted with a warm friendly welcome. Service was speedy, food was excellent, really good value for money. The restaurant was lovely and clean. Nothing was too much trouble and the owners were great with the kids. The restaurant is still very much working to covid compliant rules but don't let that put you off. We look forward to visiting again...
