Chick King — Restaurant in England

I do not usually write reviews, but on this occasion I feel obliged to do so. In the spring, before the seaside season began, I visited Bournemouth with my dog and ordered fish and chips at this café. The food was delicious and of excellent quality, and even my dog enjoyed his meal.

Unfortunately, on 6 August, when I returned with my family, the experience was completely different — and deeply disappointing. The service was unprofessional and rude, and the food was of shockingly poor quality. The portion contained very little fish, and what there was tasted unpleasant. The batter was so thick, heavy, and greasy that it was almost impossible to reach the fish. It resembled soggy bread soaked in burnt oil.

Regrettably, this was the worst fish and chips I have ever had. I would strongly advise visitors not to come here...

Went just now and as it look like a kebab shop more than a fish and chip shop. I ask is it proper fish and chips, the gentleman was very polite and his manner is fantastic, he said yes. Unfortunately my gut instinct was correct, the chips are the horrible big square chips frozen and generally get in pubs. Not fish and chip shop chips. The fish is fine, however the batter is again not proper batter think and chewy. When I got back home with it my son looked at it and said where did you get that a weather spoons. My review is solely based on the fish and chips. Not the restaurant, it’s very clean and the service was excellent the gentleman service was very polite, however needs to learn what sea side fish and chips are...

I came across this place after a long walk along the beach from Bournemouth and we were looking for a bite for lunch.

The appearance of the shop didn't fill us with confidence, and the menu is quite varied with fried chicken, fishnchips, kebab and a lot of others.

As we were at the sea I wanted to get the cod and chips, and I can honestly say it was the best fish n chips I have ever had. The chips and the batter were crispy and seasoned to perfection and the fish was tasty and flaked apart. It couldn't have been better! I say that as someone who is very fussy about fish n chips and dislikes the traditional fare you get in most chippies that are soggy, greasy and bland.
