You’d walk past it on the street without realising so it’s a hidden gem. Didn’t think too much to it as we walked up the stairs but as soon as we got to the top, it looked great!
Matt was our host and he was so friendly and helpful. The theme is upheld and continuous throughout the building, so the hosts and scientists and they’ve got a time travel machine which is why you can visit different eras (the rooms).
We did the Tommy room and the room itself was so interesting and interactive. You used potatoes, shovelled sand, it was really good and everything was made to feel like it belonged there perfectly. It was really impressive and it kept getting better honestly!
The couple of negative things I would say is that it’s not disabled- friendly and I assume maybe it’s a listed building and that’s why there aren’t lifts (that I knew about anyway) and why you wouldn’t be able to fit a wheelchair or maybe someone on crutches walking around. For abled-bodied people like ourselves that wasn’t an issue of course but it could easily have been.
I must admit though, I didn’t think the Tommy room would be as claustrophobic as it was. I’m not super panicky in those situations but I did feel flustered in the ‘trenches’. Maybe if the rooms came with a slight warning just because I’ve done escape rooms before that warn you about it, and then there’s no enclosed element so I think maybe a small heads up would’ve been good.
They take a Polaroid at the end and I will say it would have been nice to receive a copy!
We’ll definitely come back again though as it really was fun and the time flew by...
Read more5 of us booked Room “Alan” last minute. Our games master was Aaron who was friendly welcoming and enthusiastic.
It was the best damn escape room we’ve ever done. The props, quality of clues, amount of effort that’s gone into devising complex interactive riddles and clues that require multiple layers of code breaking had us astounded. It’s set at the perfect level of difficulty where you actually feel clever (lol) for working things out and at the same time leaves you gawking at how clever the people setting the challenge must be!
Great story line, state of the art clues, and theatrical and immersive experience. What sets it apart from others is just the sheer amount of clues on offer and the quality of the rooms and props. Highly highly recommend going you will...
Read moreWe did this escape room on a whim (same day booking). We did Mary. The host was fantastic - really got into character, and then, afterwards talked us through the other rooms (not giving anything away obviously) and gave us more info’ about other escape rooms in Derby and Nottingham (very knowledgeable). The room structure is cool, and there are some really fun puzzles. My one warning, which is not the fault of the designers at all, is that, if you are colourblind, this one might not be for you. My husband is colourblind and is used to sitting out the odd escape room puzzle because he can’t differentiate the clues. However, in this one, there are multiple puzzles that involve colours. Overall though, we both really enjoyed it and will be back to do the...
