I came in on Wednesday night and have never been more impressed by a restaurant! First of all the food was absolutely impeccable. I would definitely recommend a Bibibap with Korean fried chicken. It was sensational.

Despite the food, I wanted to write the review to commend the young server tonight. I didn’t quite catch her name but she had her hair in plaits and a fringe and glasses. She was running the front of the restaurant by herself tonight and even though omomo is a decently small place, she was doing drinks, taking orders, serving food and even seating people all by herself. It wasn’t as packed as the restaurant usually is but it was definitely busy enough for one person to run by themselves especially in 30 degree heat!!!

First of all, she was the most sweetest person I have ever met. She constantly had a smile on her face every time she spoke to someone - even the delivery drivers. She made sure we enjoyed our food and checked on everyone quite a few times. There were points in the night where it was difficult for a few tables to get her attention but I’m sure everyone there can agree that there was no problem with that as she was a busy bee! She literally didn’t stop unless it was to have a drink! She was constantly thanking us for our patience - whether we waited on a drink or food and it made me, as a customer, feel so seen and cared for. She even apologised for the dirty plates next to us after she overheard us talking about the half eaten food, she explained that there wasn’t space in the kitchen to put them as no one had time to wash the dishes and even offered for us to move if it made us feel uncomfortable but we told her that we didn’t have a problem and we were just talking about food wastage! It was such a polite gesture.

It was very hot tonight and she looked very hot and tired but never let that change the way she treated the customers. I didn’t have time to properly thank her for her amazing attitude towards us as she took our payment quite quickly. It wasn’t in a rude way however, she simply had quite a lot on her plate and we didn’t want to keep her with us for too long. It didn’t stop her from thanking us for coming and wishing us a lovely rest of our evening though!

I do really appreciate the positive attitude she has towards her job and am absolutely impressed by how welcome she made us feel. We will definitely be coming again and would love to see what the other servers have in store for us, or maybe have her serve us again. I truly hope this girl sees this review and gets the praise she deserves. Her hard work is appreciated by the customers of omomo and whether this is her future or just a part time to get money, she truly is appreciated and great things are coming towards her in her future.

Once again, the food was impeccable and 100% recommended but the service...

I'm relatively new to Korean cuisine, but the dishes here were comparable to my friend's favourite Korean place in London (she lived in Seoul for several years and has struggled to find authentic Korean places since moving here, so her standards are high!). My partner and I loved the food at OMOMO: we had the set menu (the veganised version) and it was delicious - we particularly enjoyed the starter platter as we both love crispy textures, and it included fried dumplings along with a range of other tasty treats.

The portions for the set menu (with the hotpot style main course) are quite large! We arrived hungry, but it still proved too much for us. Fortunately, the staff have takeaway boxes available for when your eyes are bigger than your stomach! This did feel like great value considering we went away with supper in a box to boot (the food came to £52 for 2 people, plus drinks).

Service was wonderful - as we found OMOMO by accident, we hadn't booked a table, but the manager was able to accommodate us anyway even though the restaurant was extremely popular that evening. The staff were kind, helpful, and kept service flowing quickly despite it being peak time. We felt very welcome and really enjoyed the atmosphere.

The venue has a good location on Derby's Strand, with big shutter windows that open fully in the summer to take advantage of good weather. The décor is modern but very well designed, and the whole experience feels very well put-together.

Overall, we had a fantastic evening with great service and greater food, without breaking the bank. Unfortunately, we don't come this way often or we'd definitely be planning a return trip. We will, however, be recommending OMOMO to our friends...

Honestly, this has been one of my favourite places to eat. However, what needs to be worked upon is the service and the staff. The girl who served us yesterday evening with a ponytail came up to check up on us and asked us if we are finished eating or not. While one person on the table was finished eating, the other wasn’t. She basically asked us to “hurry up” eating and leave because it was busy. Understandable, it’s a Saturday evening and gets busy but who on earth says HURRY UP AND LEAVE?! And she stood there on our heads until we make a decision of leaving regardless whether we’ve eaten or not. This was one of the worst statements I’ve come across on in hospitality. Anyway, when asked her about if we could get the food in takeaway box she left and didn’t bring it across either. Overall, the place I used to like a lot doesn’t make me want to be there anymore. Staff needs to learn a lot it seems like, however it was unacceptable and a rude comment from her. Anyway, would recommend everyone now to not visit this place as they ask you to HURRY UP and doesn’t respect or considerate the pace in which people eat....

A very good experience of Korean street food. Affordable prices but food was of very good quality. We tried the most of the sauce options for the chicken and everything was so good, goes very well with the already well seasoned chicken. The fried dumplings doesn’t taste like just an ordinary dumpling. Also, can’t really leave out the Japchae since it’s one of my favourite Korean food. It was not dry, it was served with a lot of meat. And by the way, anyone who has food allergies, they are very particular with it. Let them know of your food allergies, and they really let you know which food from their menu might contain one the your allergens, even showed us the list of food allergens for each dish. That was a plus for someone like me who has allergies to crustaceans. So happy to find this Korean street food resto in Derby. Another visit is a must, or I can say, I’ll be a regular since I love Korean food. There is still a lot in the menu that is worth trying.

Super happy that Omomo exists and even more so that it is in Derby. Omomo is our favourite place to visit, it's a great atmosphere and the decor is nice, fresh and bright. There is lots of choices of food and they keep bringing out more menu items as well. I am a vegetarian and there is loads of choice for me and they can easily adapt food when it comes to preferences and allergies. There is a stand of snacks and drinks which you can purchase as well away from the menu. We tried the Kimchi pancake (my favourite item I had), tteokboki, cauliflower in a burger bun, Korean fried chicken and rameon. We will definitely be going again in the near future and will try different items as well as our favourites from this visit. The staff were also really nice and everywhere was really clean. Love it!!

Came in for lunch and found that they did a lunch deal that you can get for as little as £6.90. I decided to get bibimbap with honey garlic fried chicken, and a black sugar milk tea drink. The bibimbap was delicious, and the egg was cooked perfectly with a lovely runny yolk. The fried chicken was lovely, and I'm looking forward to trying the other sauces in the future. The bubble tea was well balanced and not too sweet. The only complaint I have is that it used brown sugar jelly instead of tapioca, but I can easily ask for no toppings on future visits. Decor was cute and chairs were comfortable, with a choice of booth seating as well. Would recommend if you want to splash out a little on your lunch.
