Amanda and I would like to thank all of the staff at Great Yarmouth Racecourse for their part in making our Wedding day so special.

From the moment we enquired about having our reception at the racecourse we were put into the hands of Lisa who was extremely helpful from the start and spared no attention to detail. We were invited to visit the site so that we could envisage how the venue would look and were very impressed in all aspects.

It was of great assistance to us that we were able to have the room set up to our liking the day before the wedding so that we were able to take anything there in advance to save time on the day. Once more the staff were most accommodating in this respect.

The day itself was terrific in that everything was taken care of by Lisa and her very willing and able staff. The food and service was second to none. A special mention must go to Paul and his catering staff for the provision of such an outstanding meal especially given that it was their first sizeable function for a while due to the COVID restrictions. Literally everybody was very complimentary. We were blessed with beautiful weather and the venue was ideal with so much outside space to take advantage of. When the sun set it was a beautiful end to our perfect day in lovely surroundings.

So our extended thanks to all staff at the racecourse and in particular Lisa, Paul and Glenn the manager for making our day so memorable.

John and...

This race course is one of a kind. It doesn’t pretend to be the likes of Ascot like Newmarket races which fails dismally, however Yarmouth racecourse has a character all of its own. Due to its location it attractions regular pundits and holiday makers every year who like the same thing. The ground has commercialised slightly by putting a caravan site in the middle of the course however Newmarket racecourse holds 2/3/4 day pop concerts which really bug the locals especially Newmarket itself which is literally over run at the time. Yarmouth hasn’t done that though and stuck to its core principles for which the ground was created by having ladies nights, 3 day meets afternoon meets in the winter and looking after the locals by having local markets on hard stands and classic car rally’s. My reason for 4 not 5 star is due to the lack of road infrastructure getting into the town ( which admittedly is not down to the racecourse but the could lobby the council on behalf of there customers). There is only one road in and one road out of Yarmouth single lane which is also used for all of Yarmouth traffic so if a race meet is held during the afternoon rush hour the town of Yarmouth comes to grid lock for 2/3 hours. This situation needs to be addressed ASAP both for Yarmouth development and also for the future of Yarmouth...

Great sunny day, no fortunes won but that's the way it goes. Did have to laugh, a well to do elderly couple sat next to us on a bench in the premier paddock eating a tasty smelling hog roast sandwich, a steward came and told them they weren't allowed to eat in this area! Really?! A trash can immediately behind them, I'm fairly sure they would have used! But then the hilarity really is that despite other advertised standards, dress code is clearly not adhered to most especially in the premier enclosure, jeans, trainers, scruffy sports wear, but heh! No matter as long as your not eating in the premier enclosure, also smokers allowed to do so anywhere outside and then throw their cigarette butts on the floor/grass, no repurcussions for them whatsoever, hmm! Laughable OTT! Poor couple! So maybe if standards of dress are clearly relaxed a little more manoeuvrability for a responsible couple can...

Visited with partner two consecutive days 12th and 13th June 2024. Travelled 320 mile round trip and two nights hotel stay. Paid over £400 for hospitality. Sadly the menu was the same both days. First day unable to deviate from menu in any way. Second day was worse ran out of options and the second option looked like very tired food. Facilities are good, pleasant environment a little aged, staff generally try really hard. Wouldn’t recommend hospitality here. Having visited hospitality at over 30 racecourses think this experience was the worst. Disappointing won’t be back.

This was my first time going to the races, booked a ticket for Trafalgar restaurant with three course meal. The food was delicious. The experience for a first timer is confusing, the ticket has very little info on it, no reference to start time or when gates open! Likewise when we arrived found restaurant and got seated there is no info about placing bets. There are only two people going around tables taking and paying out bets. I wouldn't recommend this unless you really are into racing. You have to move out onto balcony to see track otherwise you just watch on screens.
