Staying at Haven, found the menu at the onsight Eatery, Coast House limited, bland, pricey and the music way too loud. A search on good nearby home cooked pub food revealed this Gem of a local pub... 2 mins away by car! Mum had the liver, bacon, onions, mash and peas and I had Hunter's chicken. Both were good portions, cooked to perfection, delicious and considering the current economic climate, the prices were very good. Best pub food I've had in a long time! Previously, I've had Hunter's chicken at other venues and a peeve of mine is not enough BBQ sauce, not the case here. I also loved the accompanying salad. Mum said hers was very tasty and needless to say, there were two clean plates at the end. It's not very often in the UK you can get decent pub food that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. The staff were also very professional and friendly, which is always appreciated when you're visiting somewhere new. Thank you for the lovely meal and for making us feel welcome....

No. We ended up waiting at the table and then we had to queue again to pay for the food and get the drinks when this could have been explained in the first place. We also noticed people waiting by the carvery section without being acknowledged by the (misery) guy in charge. Again a simple 'hi. Apologies for the delay. I'll be with you in a minute' (with a smile ideally) would have removed some frustration. One of them simply left. As they say: the first...

The staff were very warm and friendly and couldn't do enough for us considering the size of our party. The food/drinks were really nice and reasonably priced and we all enjoyed the puddings too. We were made to feel so welcome - so much so that we popped back in for another meal the next day before we travelled back home. We would highly recommend The Avenue and can't thank the staff enough for coping with our little rabble when we visited!! We will definitely be visiting again when we come across to Great...
