A Disappointing Experience for Non-Wheelchair Disabled Visitors
I recently visited Hirsty’s Family Funpark and unfortunately, my experience was far from what I had hoped for. While the park offers a variety of attractions and amenities, their policy regarding disability accommodations is shockingly limited and frankly, appalling.
As someone who is registered disabled but does not use a wheelchair, I was taken aback to learn that the park only recognizes wheelchair users as eligible for disability accommodations. This narrow view of disability is not only outdated but also deeply frustrating for those of us with invisible or non-mobility-related disabilities. The refusal to acknowledge my needs as a disabled person, despite having official documentation, left me feeling excluded and marginalized.
It’s disappointing to see a place that should be inclusive for all operate under such restrictive and insensitive guidelines. Disability comes in many forms, and it's disheartening that Hirsty’s Family Funpark fails to recognise this. I strongly urge the management to reconsider their policies and to provide accommodations that are fair and accessible to all disabled visitors, not just those in wheelchairs.
Until these changes are made, I cannot recommend this park to anyone with a disability that doesn't involve a wheelchair. There are far more inclusive and understanding places to spend your...
Read moreSince Hirsty’s Family Fun Park is only within walking distance, it is an ideal place for us to have an enjoyable day out that is not too far away. Each year they bring a new maze layout and they never fail to disappoint, they are always challenging and exciting! We enjoy solving puzzles and challenging ourselves so the maze is a great place for exactly that. As a couple in our 20’s and not being the usual target audience for these types of attractions, we are still able to enjoy ourselves with many of the additional activities they have to offer alongside the maze such as the different puzzles, mini golf, football, go karting and the new giant bouncy pillows! We paid £8.50 each to enter which is definitely a good price in comparison to other family attractions at the moment. Although for children aged 3-16 years it is £12.50 as they have more access to what the park has to offer, then for children aged 1-2 years it is £7 and entry for infants (up to 1 year) is free. There is also food available to buy and...

The soft play was a very small climbing frame with slide and a few mats, inside there were also crafting tables and 4 rabbits to stroke, all supervised by a friendly helpful young man. Luckily the weather stayed good and outside kept a 5 year old entertained for 5 hours. One of the bouncing pillows was deflated but the trampolines are great, super bouncy! There’s climbing, slides, go karts and a barrel ride. Lots of picnic benches and a cafe that did good coffee and ice cream.
They offer a maze map but unless you open it as you enter it isn’t much use and if you are then just orientating round it sort of spoils it. I’d recommend they do as other mazes have which is various lift flap boards to send you in the right direction if you need help.
We had a good day and a...
