Amazing little musem! Just been today with my family and was most amazed at all of the millitary equipment ranging from WW2 to WW1 The massive Chefitan tank to great you as you walk into the main artillery grounds , don’t even get me started on the artillery pieces ! The massive flak guns and anti-air artillery just lined up to glorify for you. A replicated trench inside a bombardment shelter , history about the Hartlepool shellings and even a armoury housing weapons such as the legendary Hitler’s Buzzsaw the MG34/MG42 , the brilliant British Bren Gun , The German Mauser pistol and rifle to revolvers to Hand guns to even hand grenades such as the Stheilhandgrante the German hand grenade or even the American standard grenade ! This is little musem is a sight to behold totally recommend it , most of the staff were very friendly . And that is all I can state about this great musem off...
Read moreSuch a great place to take my three boys aged 12, 7 and 3. They were fascinated by all the weapons (large and small) and the staff were all so knowledgeable and friendly. They really took their time with the boys to explain what was on display and what happened at the battery during the first world war. As adults we appreciated the balance of information along with interactivity for the children. There is nothing worse than telling three boys "don't touch that...don't go in there" every 2 minutes. They were actively encouraged to get a feel of what it would've been like for the poor men who served during the first world war and were allowed to hold weapons and wear helmets (British and German) from that time. Read moreWe just came upon this museum while on a walk and are so glad we did. First off, it is all funded from donations, so you have to pay something, but how much is up to you. We were then given a half-hour guided tour by a lovely gentleman dressed in WW1 uniform. He explained the first attack on the British coastline by the Germans firing over 1000 shells on Hartlepool. The armoury is great for the children to hold guns and equipment from both wars. It is a very small museum, but the volunteers who run it are passionate and knowledgeable.
