This was our 1st visit to the Duke Of Cleveland. We stopped In for a bite to eat and a hot drink to warm up after our bitterly cold winter walk. The service was less than delightful with a waitress that had a terrible attitude on her and anything we asked for seemed like she had to go out of her way and beyond to complete our request. We all had a hot chocolate, which left us less than impressed as it tasted more like hot water with a hint of cocoa. When asked if she could bring us some extra sugar, we were grunted at with a "you've already got sugar" response as she pointed to the table (we had 1 sachet) We then asked if we could possibly have some extra milk (to make the hot chocolate a little more palatable) 4 Hours later we are still waiting for said milk. Food was ordered, and aprox 50 minutes later we were still waiting for 3 bowls of chips and a pizza. When enquired about how much longer the food was going to take as it was closely reaching the hour mark since we had ordered, the waitress snapped heavily with a response of... "No it hasn't! " 😲 I felt like I was having my head bit off by a grumpy teenager. The food did follow shortly after, which was tasty and hot if i am to be honest. By this time we all felt we'de had our throats cut as our stomach's grumbled with hunger. When getting ready to leave, I left my partner to deal with the pleasure of approaching said waitress and her charming demeanour to finalise our bill. I think our only pleasurable experience of our visit was the warm fire that roasted the room up and our cold little bodies. Needless to say, we will not be returning for a...

The food was very nice, the sunday dinner veg was done perfectly and altbough not a huge choice of veg (green beans, brocoli and carrot) it was beautifully cooked. the cheesecake esp was amazing... however...
-Veggie and vegan options We rang up twice before to check there were veggie options on the Sunday dinner menu but when we showed up, we were told there wasn't, so I ordered a Sunday lunch but just without the meat. When the bill came I was asked if it was right that I was charged to full amount even though I had no meat and didn't seem to have extra veg or Yorkshire out, and i was told yes. If I'd have one in I would have asked for the meat on a separate plate and taken it home for dog.
I was also found after that the potatoes i had (on my veggie meal) were cooked in Goose fat :(
-Service The staff were nice enough but not very well trained, they didn't seem especially busy but we had to kept asking for things like more drinks after we d sat for a.ling time with empty glasses (they could have easily made much more.money out of us by asking if we wanted more rounds!) Also little things like we were left with dirty plates for a long time and dinner plates were still on table whilst eating dessert. We also didn't get any cutlery with dessert and then had to go look for some.one to.bring it over after 10 mins as we couldn't see any one to ask. We also weren't ask if we wanted...
Read moreChristmas Fayre review- A three course meal @ £32.00 per head. When we arrived our table was not dressed as re website photos. We were lucky to get four Christmas crackers which were plonked on the table. There was no fire and the Christmas ambience was appalling. We had to ask for some Christmas music I have never been to such an establishment with such horrible food. How we did not get all get food poisoning was sheer luck. The meat/ beef that we had on our plate stunk. Ok we did not pay for the meal after complaining but it spoilt my/our Christmas experience. I am so disappointed as I have been other times on a Sunday and had a nice meal. Hence why we booked it for our Christmas Fayre. I even made a special trip to the pub to hand in menus orders for our meal. It looked so inviting from the website. I would however, never go back...
