I've seen this outcrop of a cliff for many years driving along the M56 and finally I've stood on the top and looked across the M56, River Mersey, John Lennon airport and Liverpool Cathedral and more (I was using binoculars at the time). Pick the right day and the view is amazing. Had a picnic on the top, though it was a little bit breezy. We had a lovely walk around Helsby Hill and Woodhouse Hillfort. I know you can see all the industrial stuff in the distance and you have the road noise from the M56 but down in the dips and through the woods you could be miles...
Read moreA very good place for walks. Nice scenery and full of nature. A few historical places to visit to do with the old quarry. Not much parking close by, but usually it's a very quiet place to visit outside of holidays . Good point: Information boards and points of interest are very well done. The scenery is stunning and it's very quiet.
Bad point: Didn't see any toilets and I would say its tricky if you have a walking disability as the undergrowth and surrounding areas can get slippery there also did not appear to be any...

After you've been down into the Quarry site, return to the little carpark where you started and then walk up Helsby Hill for a great view across Cheshire, Wirral, Runcorn.
Can get very busy when the sun is out, but you can park road side if you are careful. There are only 10'ish spaces in the little car...
