You park up at the car park for Helsby quarry. Short walk up a steep hill gets you into wilderness to explore. Further up and you are at the top with views of Cheshire and beyond overlooking Helsby. On a clear day, outlines of Liverpool cathedrals and the Welsh hills can be seen. Serene atmosphere. There are no amenities around, so fetch your own refreshments. Enjoy it and try not to spoil it for others.

Helsby Hill is a lovely spot affording great views of the River Mersey -- It is also a good place to go star gazing on a clear night. If you are planning a walk in the area, Helsby Quarry Nature Reserve is also worth a visit but the car park is not very large so it can be difficult to find parking.

An Iron Age fort set on the edge of a sandstone ridge with breath taking 360 views of the River Mersey, Welsh hills, Cheshire plain and all along the sandstone hills towards Frodsham. Absolutely magnificent. Don’t let young children get too close to the edge. Highly recommended to visit.

TL;DR 10/10 - perfect for dog walks or to come sit and relax with peace, quiet and breathtaking views. Absolutely stunning spot to go watch the sunset, sunrise, or to just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet, whilst having the most beautiful view. Fairly easy to park (if coming by car) and the walk is extremely easy - even with our 2yo we were able to do it without any real hassle! However, it is worth noting that it's definitely not child safe when it comes to being at the peak, as it's a rocky cliff with a massive drop straight down so, if you plan on taking your little ones up here, be sure to come prepared with...

This is a decent walk, following the Longster Trail, named after the late Frank Longster (it was his grandson who accompanied me on this sojourn). I wouldn’t have thought to go up this hill as it seemed like a grim industrial landscape, but the views are surprisingly rewarding as it is the only piece of high ground in the area. You can see right over to Liverpool on a clear day as well as across to Wales. It’s not too popular with tourists so definitely a nice quiet spot to get away...
