This place surprised me. I live locally and have driven past it a number of times. Looking at the location and the fact its appears to be surrounded by a number of buildings I always assumed it was just a small court yard. Boy was I wrong I was instantly amazed of the size of place. There is parking available but you do have to cross a busy road to get to the gardens. A crossing of some description would be perfect especially when you have children in tow. We popped into the tea rooms for some lunch the food was amazing! However I felt there was not a lot of options for children. Wondering round the gardens they have boxes dotted around full of information about the gardens. The flowers in bloom were gorgeous such a range of colours. There were a couple of open areas where the children could stretch their legs but there was always something to keep them interested. They were fascinated by the ponds and all the wildlife it attracted water snails, fish and their favourite the dragonflies. Overall this surprising place is perfect for a morning/afternoon wonder.

The Courts Garden is a well maintained and surprisingly extensive National Trust property. Parking and overflow parking are both a short walk away, the staff and volunteers were friendly, and the grounds were well attended but by no means overcrowded. The house in the grounds appears to be completely empty but there are rest rooms and a refreshments kiosk available behind the house. The refreshments kiosk was closed today, but there is a decent village pub (The Old Ham Tree) a few minutes' walk from the gardens back in the village that serves lunch from 12:00-14:30pm. The pub also has its own car park. Most of the grounds seem to be wheelchair accessible, although some of the paths would be hard to use or off limits to wheelchair users. Nevertheless, weather permitting this is a delightful place to spend a morning or afternoon with family and friends. Top tips: Check opening times and postcode before coming. I wouldn't want to rely on public transport to get me there. Buy a guide book, which was £3 at time of original writing (normally £4).

The Courts, built c 1720 and incorporating earlier fabric, was the home of a wealthy local clothier from nearby Bradford-on-Avon, which at the time was one of the most prosperous wool towns in the area. The Courts also served as the village law court where cloth weavers could settle their disputes. The house itself is private and cannot generally be visited, but the extensive 20th-century gardens that surround the house pack a lot of interest into a fairly small area. The design is primarily Arts and Crafts, with separate 'garden rooms' in different styles. Definitely worth a visit if you're a National trust member and in the area, car parking is FREE at the Holt village hall car park. NO DOGS allowed (except guide 🦮), restrooms in the gardens on left of the summer house.

Had a very lovely day with a friend and brought a couple of under 1s. Couldn't have wished for better weather! Sunny, warm, a breeze with some cloud. The grounds are great to do a few laps around, even with a buggy. Each time you can take a slightly different path and still get a fresh experience. The buggies did bounce around a bit in the wood chip paths but wasn't hard to push through. Sat in the shade for a bit of lunch by the cafe truck (looks like a converted old horse box). So gutted they were out of tuna sandwiches! But everything else was stocked. Staff were efficient (and apologetic about the lack of tuna). There were quite a few families with young children and babies enjoying their day as well as elderly. It felt far from overcrowded and everyone smiled. Really would recommend a weekday visit. I have been at the weekend, in the summer holidays too, even then there's so much space that it's NEVER felt...
