Horsham Museum is an example of what a really good local museum and art gallery can be like. Currently it is undergoing a complete revamp with updated displays. There is pretty much something to engage everyone with displays ranging from pre-history through to contemporary. The art exhibitions of contemporary artists are excellent with individual artists being featured for a set time ensuring that during the year different styles of art can be enjoyed. Read moreThis smallish museum only takes an hour to visit. I wouldn't go to Horsham just for this, but worth an hour if you're there anyway. At the time of writing, entry was free. The people on the desk were friendly and welcoming.
The (free) map tells you where the rooms are, but could do with some information on what is in each room.
This place is a two minute walk from the pedestrian precinct. I really don't understand why there isn't a signpost or freestanding board to direct you from the precinct - I've been in Horsham lots of times, but never knew...
Read moreWe came into Horsham for the Farmers' Market - all 3 stalls! With time to spare, we visited the museum and spent a couple of hours wandering around. There is a large and varied collection of artefacts relevant to the local area and a small garden. For a small museum, it is very worthwhile and a credit to the town. Definitely worth a visit in the area. Admission is free, but they ask for a donation, whihc is reasonable....
