Family unfriendly but not obvious. We went to this pub to have lunch with our friends we were staying with in Horsham. There were four of us adults and three children all under five. We were not told that children are expected to be seated and quiet. We had our meal and our children then wanted to get down and walk around the pub. Bear in mind that these kids are all under three. The kids started making a bit of noise and then one of the the staff members approached us and said that we would need to keep our kids seated and quiet as they had complaints from other patrons about our kids. Nowhere does it say that kids must be quiet and stay seated and when we walked in and sat down that might have been a good time to let us know that. The staff were very unprofessional in the way they handled the whole situation and it escalated quickly into an argument because I think they somehow forgot that we were customers as well. The food and drink were good and the first waitress to serve us was good but other than that everything else was bad. I would not go back to a place were the staff have no idea of how to handle a situation like that and they do not deserve custom from others either. Go to a kid friendly place if you have kids and don´t bother with this pub. I wish I could give it no stars but this rating system...
Read moreA difficult comment. I'd travelled down from Peterborough by train to meet with my sister, nephew and his wife to deliver a wedding present. This was the second stop in our trip around Horsham. They served cask ale, I wouldn't have gone through the door if not, which was of good quality and I enjoyed; both pints. My sister ordered a selection of light bites which were very good and enjoyed by the 4 of us. We sat in the sunshine in a good courtyard at the rear. It was their sort of venue, and this is the difficult part, it wasn't really mine. I wouldn't complain, they know and understand their chosen market and I'd say serve it well but I really enjoy; well let's just say the first time my sister and I met up to exchange Xmas gifts after years of little contact I'd chosen the venues in London, on arriving home her other half asked if she'd had a good day, her reply was great, great food, excellent ale I understand, and great fun; next time I'll take a bucket of sawdust for the floor. Here she didn't need the sawdust but everything else was just the same. Would I visit next time I'm in Horsham, definitely, the ale was great and so was the food but I'd not spend my Friday and Saturday...
Read moreWent with 8 family members booked well in advance, so they knew how many people they would be serving... menu looked amazing.. arrived in good time at 1pm.... then the disaster started.. forgot drink orders.. then waited over an hour and a half to be served overpriced very mediocre food.. although the menu would have you believe otherwise...venison pie??? more like a pie from a bad chip shop!! ...dont be fooled.. frozen chips that you can buy in sainsburys, because they do... you know who you are....!!! We saw you after in there because you had ran out.... and a so called STEAK burger, that was basically just badly cooked minced beef jammed in some poor excuse for a ciabatta roll.. junk..!!.. and when the food did turn up it was barely warm.. pretty poor experience all round.. and a bad apology from the staff.. shocking altogether....the bill was over £220... best advice would be to avoid this place.. got handed some rubbish vouchers that can only be opened by staff if you visit again... avoid...
