I'm an ex-Holmfirther and my wife and I travel down from Tyneside for several long weekends each year. We always pop into Ashley's studio where we're always given a warm welcome by either the staff or the man himself whether we buy something (jigsaw/mug/coasters/book..or even a print), or not. He always spends time with us and always has an interesting story to tell. (He is as much a Wordsmith as he is an artist...and that's saying summat!!) He actually makes us feel as if he is grateful to us for allowing him spending time with us when it really should be the other way round! You only have to be with him for a couple of minutes to understand his passion about his mistress - the Yorkshire moors - even after 60 years in the business. Wonderful ambiance, staff and attention to detail (every purchase is hand wrapped in Ashley Jackson brown paper and has a green ribbon where possible) and paintings which just suck you in to the Stormy landscape. Read moreI've loved Ashley's paintings since I was bought my first one 30 years ago and to be honest, I wouldn't go anywhere else! Lovely little shop, very helpful staff and when Ashley is in the shop, he will personally sign any paintings bought at the time, on the back. He is a really lovely guy and is one hell of an artist. The lovely lady who served us was very knowledgeable and explained where each print was painted.
