I have visited here a couple of times, first at Christmas where I had the Christmas special afternoon tea (fantastic portions and really accommodating for my children) the staff were friendly and I genuinely couldn’t of asked for much more of a great service- because of this I decided to rebook for Mother’s Day.
I entered a competition beforehand and won an afternoon tea which the owner was happy to give me for my slot on Mother’s Day, however, this experience was far from what I had expected, there was no friendly manner from the fella that works there (apologies I do not know his name) and me, my mother and children actually felt awkward with how we were looked and spoken towards - almost like we shouldn’t be there!
Our afternoon tea came out and it was scarce. It was meant to be afternoon tea for 2 but would barely fill 1 person (when we came previously we had lots of left overs even after the kids had shared bits) - I therefore let my mother eat the most of it, it was highly disappointing, the sandwiches were hard and it almost seemed like we had the left overs from that day, on departure again no friendly manner- no asking how our food was etc. The guy seemed very happy to see the back of us, I will not be returning - maybe it’s because we didn’t fit the picture? Or maybe you didn’t want to give a prize for the competition? I don’t know, but I would of happily of disregarded the prize and paid the full price if meaning I would of received the same service as we did at christmas, very uncomfortable indeed. I hope it was just an “off” day for you guys, as I say, beforehand the service was 2nd to...
Read moreThe Wrinkled Stocking Tea Room is nothing short of a hidden gem. From the moment we stepped in, it was clear this charming tea room prides itself on providing both exceptional food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The food was an absolute treat—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether you’re enjoying a light lunch or indulging in a decadent afternoon tea, the flavors never disappoint.
What truly elevated our experience, however, was the exceptional service we received from Katie. She went above and beyond in making our visit memorable. Not only was she attentive and friendly, but she also took the time to share recommendations for local sights, including tips on filming locations from Last of the Summer Wine. Her passion for the area was infectious, and it added such a personal touch to our experience.
As if that wasn't enough, my father was celebrating his birthday, and Katie surprised him with a cake and a candle—such a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture that truly made the day feel special.
The Wrinkled Stocking Tea Room is more than just a café; it’s a place where good food and outstanding service come together to create a memorable experience. Whether you're a local or visiting the area, this delightful tea room is a must-visit. We will...
Read moreToday - 17th February 2014 me and five friends en-route home after a weekend in a cottage on the moor above Holmfirth decided to go and have some light refreshments at the famous Wrinkled Stocking. As a life long follower of Compo and Nora, it was my suggestion and let me tell you it certainly was not a disappointment. It is spotlessly clean, the food and beverages were just devine, my tea was served in a beautiful little tea pot with it's own beautifully knitted little tea cosy, the service was excellent with very pleasant staff, and I think the icing on the cake was the fact that anyone wishing to use the loo, well, they provided individual hand towels, absolutely brilliant. So, anyone in the vacinity wishing to have a great experience, then look no further than the Wrinkled Stocking..Thank you. Adrian...
