Allerton Manor golf course is still being revamped, so only 16 holes are currently open. My understanding is that they are aiming to make the course championship standard. However based on today that goal must still be a few years away. Although it's been a dry spring & summer, other courses are in far better condition. Several fairways were rock hard and many of the greens patchy. I was shocked by the state of the 14th green (see photo). The 14th also has mats - a proper tee area in summer surely is possible. The layout is uninspiring and doesn't flow very well in my opinion, there's a lot of walking between holes but for a short course not a real problem. After the 12th there is a pathway (which reminded me of the Forbidden Forest in Harry Potter), along the way there was another sign pointing to the 13th, but back to where we came from. We searched for the 13th tee without success, so when we found the 14th we just played on. At the 15th green there is a sign (see photo) saying to ring the bell to let players behind you know the green is clear as it's a blind approach (funny in itself to be hitting to a green that is impossible to see), but there is no bell attached. I haven't played on a course this poor in a very long time. On the positive side, the outdoor area by the sports bar is excellent. Food (burger was great) and drink in the sun went down well. The expressionless waiter was going through the motions though. When he brought our food he mumbled something about cutlery & condiments and walked off. We watched to see if he was bringing us any, but when he moved on to other jobs we went looking for them ourselves. Today was a very mixed one. I'd probably return for a drink, but not the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNever have I had a more disappointing eating experience ever and that's a bold statement!. So many issues it is hard to comprehend how things could possibly go so wrong in such an esteemed Golf club and wonderful surroundings whilst ordering a simple breakfast. The staff albeit friendly are inattentive and are often found chatting away in groups around the bar and till areas totally unawares of patrons needs until they look up out of their conversations once in a while to look if anyone needs assistance. We were served by at least 3 possibly 4 different waiters/waitresses in such an ad hoc fashion that non were on top of our needs or timeline of our ordering. The impression of being over staffed and over familiar with each other was very clear and apparent. Their lack of direction and organisation is staggering and can only be a result of the outrageous incompetence of their manager or possibly too many managers giving them conflicting directions or actually non at all such was their confusion. Strangely the chef's were constantly seen walking in and out of the kitchen many times and this may well explain why our breakfast items were all served at different temperatures ranging from cold to warm and the eggs sent back to be cooked as originally and clearly requested for previously. With so much potential to offer with this Golf club and its surroundings and set up do not get your hopes up too high in regards to your culinary and drinking experience as you will quickly become disappointed. Once the lack of vision and professionalism from every aspect of the catering side has been addressed an amazing experience for all to have will just have to be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIm on holiday in Liverpool at the moment and was meeting friends last night . The weather was lovely so we decided to meet outside at the sports bar as Iād visited 2 years ago and loved the atmosphere. There was 10 in our group so planned to have food drinks and a good catch up . The younger ones in the group all wanted cocktails and were told by one of the staff they didnāt do them .(even though they were on the menu ) the bar man said āIāve been here 6 weeks and we donāt do cocktailsā Later on we asked another guy who was clearing tables and he said they did . So then my daughter and friends went to order them at around 9pm. The bar man reluctantly made 2 , then when my other daughter asked for one he complained heād have to walk over and get the ingredients , so to make sure they all got a cocktail we ordered 5. When he delivered he said he wasnāt making anymore. So I asked who the manager was and he said he was . I told him that Iām a teacher of Retail and customer service and the way he had spoken to the young people in our group was very poor customer service . He apologised and walked away shaking his head . We were there for about 5 hours and will have spent a substantial amount of money but this service was seriously substandard. I suggest you either serve cocktails or take them off the menu. And I suggest your staff and manager have some customer service training , Iāll even do it for free for you ā¦.. or some cocktails . š¹šø Ps Iām not being a Karen ā¦.. but after today I...
