Sent a complaint in a week ago as I am sick of the state of this place. I have had family members buried here for over 20 years and it used to be beautiful! However over the last 5 years it has gone down hill dramatically. I emailed the service Manager Andrew Milne directly and still one week later have had no reply!!! Clearly could not care less.

The toilets have been revolting for a good few years now and for at least the last 2 years have been unusable and quite frankly absolutely sub human and disgusting. The grass – Every time I come, which is 2-3 times a year the grass is at a ridiculous level. It never was this way and has only been like it since Covid which seems to be the excuse for everything now. Every time I come it is at knee height and I have to bring sheers to cut around my loved ones grave, not acceptable! Especially when the front areas with the big grave stones, seen on entrance are always immaculate. It is clear priority is given to certain areas over others. The further in you go the worse it becomes. I appreciate hiring is tough right now but you don’t need experienced groundsmen to cut grass. The place looks a sight and it is deeply upsetting to family members. On what would have been my sons 21st birthday I was brought to tears at the state of where he is buried, to the point my partner went to find a groundsman and gave him £10 to do it for us. This is appalling and should not have to happen. When will you be employing enough staff to look after the grounds sufficiently. Bins and taps – Are either missing, not provided or broken. Again basic levels of service that should be being provided The skip! There is an unsightly, smelly skip which is clearly needed and of course you need this however it is constantly over flowing, smelling and just an awful sight. There used to be gates but again they are gone and have not been replaced in years Traffic – This weekend it took me over an hour to leave the cemetery and over 30 minutes to get in. There was obviously a large service arriving and through no fault of their own the disruption caused by them trying to find parking was insane. People are parking all along the double yellows and this weekend both arches were blocked for at least 20 minutes causing awful and dangerous back logs on holders hill road. Again unacceptable, if there is a large service why is no one there attending to traffic and parking. People were reversing on to the main road in droves to free up space, funeral goers where directing traffic, it is dangerous and needs a system implemented.

This complaint was sent one week ago and I am yet to receive an acknowledgement let...

I had to search for Nan's grave stone and it was buried in the long grass like a meadow ...had to take shears to tidy it up in 30° temperature yesterday...3 contractors were there apparently tending the grounds to no avail and the waist high grass which was cut was left strewn all over the graves.. both gents/ladies toilets stinking and flooded, all of which I reported to office. Toilets worsened since posting this so added further pictures and my nan's grave grass mowed but ornaments thrown away and bench left adrift. In fact every grave grass mowed and left in a similar disrespectful manner😨

Deteriorated further when I visited in November 2024...benches strewn all over, grass overgrown. All my decorations and miniature conifer trees taken ...hurt and disgusted at toilets worsened as my mum's plot located just behind my nan's is in an appalling. condition. Mum is still alive at 85, used to work in the office here and recalls a beautiful place. ...pretty...

My family grave is here at this Cemetery We have to constantly pick up rubbish and debris left over the grave area. The groundsmen leave all the old cut grass over the graves no sweeping nor collecting of this waste. The surrounds of our grave have been broken by the strimmers they use and the flower pots are always disturbed. Today we saw at least 15 men there supposedly working they trample across graves with no respect at all. Have emailed and called but no one replies. Capita are I believe in charge of maintenance. Do they even know how to work on a site like this and show some helpfulness and respect?? I doubt it Very sad to see especially when the Council charges horrendous prices for plots and their service to us The front of the cemetery is clean and tidy but if you have plots at the back or out of sight...

I visited last Saturday and was shocked to see how long the grass was. I've been coming to the crematorium for 39 years and have never seen it like this before. The areas well seen by the road are being kept tidy but behind the hedges and further back are just left over grown and unmanaged. It was very difficult to make my way through the grass. An elderly or disabled person wouldn't stand a chance. Very sad to see.

Hendon Cemetery and Crematorium offers a tranquil, well-maintained setting for remembrance. The grounds are peaceful, with mature trees and thoughtful landscaping. Staff are respectful and supportive, providing comfort during difficult times. Facilities are clean and accessible. Ideal for paying respects in a serene environment. I highly recommend for dignified services.
