I've not been to the water park in Chorlton for many years after spending every summer there as a kid when we knew it as Chorlton Marina. It's changed so much and is so well kept and maintained now and hosts Ducks and Swans on its Waters which you could swim in once upon a time but are now forbidden from doing so and the marina itself is surrounded by fencing allowing nature to thrive and it's such a nice walk the whole way around the Water Park. It has a play area for kids, areas with bench tables for families to sit and eat and there's so many spots to sit and have a picnic. There are other walking routes you can take down other paths aside from the main outer one surrounding the water. It's very serene and calming scenery and there are lots of parking spaces and a cafe/info and nature centre situated at the main entrance by Mersey Bank but this is currently closed as per covid-19 social distancing rules. There is also around 10 large charity recycling donation bins to take any unwanted clothes, shoes and various other items to if you have any if these items to donate that are sitting unworn and unwanted in your wardrobe? It's s lovely place to go a f relax and gather your thoughts or to walk the dog/s, exercising and there were people pitching tents in designated areas who were there for a few days and nights fishing. I've started walking there every few days and find it an ideal venue for getting a good bout of fresh air...
Read moreI've loved running around this place and its locale for the last 40 years. It is also a great place for riding a bike before heading further up the Mersey or over the hills over to Fairy Lane. There are always loads of other people riding, walking their dogs, and kids in the play area. Unfortunately, and similarly to Sale Water Park, there’s not much to do in the way of eating or drinking. I’ve always thought both places are missing a trick in terms of being able to grab a coffee or a bite to eat when the weather is nice and you want to pass some time in the open air. I tend to only head out there at the weekends and sometimes there is a mobile coffee shop that sets up. Often there is also an ice cream van but that’s your lot so it’s well worth taking a packed lunch with you if you think you are going to be there for a while. Having said that, I think it is a more peaceful place than Sale Water Park as you don’t have to contend with jet skis roaring around the place along with the obligatory 10 year old Vauxhall Fronteras parked near the...

I recently visited Chorlton Water Park, and I have to say, it was a delightful surprise! Nestled away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this place offers a perfect escape into nature. The lake is serene, surrounded by lush greenery and filled with wildlife. It’s a fantastic spot for a leisurely walk, and the trails are well-maintained and accessible.
I loved seeing families, dog walkers, and joggers all enjoying the fresh air. There are plenty of spots to sit and take in the view, and the playground was a hit with the kids. If you’re into bird watching, bring your binoculars—there’s so much to see!
Parking was straightforward, and it’s great that it’s free. My only tip would be to bring some snacks and drinks, as facilities are a bit limited, but that’s a small price to pay for such a natural oasis.
Whether you’re looking to relax, get some exercise, or simply enjoy the outdoors, Chorlton Water Park is well worth a visit. I’ll...
