Amazing place for a walk with family with kids and dogs 😊 Side trails are like country roads surface so if you have baby then it's better to have him/her in carrier. No WC available (where I've been) Nice places where to sit down and relax or have some picnic. Bins available on the main trail. Peaceful.

Lush surroundings, great trails for walking and biking, and dogs will love it. It's just a shame there are huge, unsightly power pylons marring the view at times, and that there's rubbish that residents have dumped near the entrances that hasn't been cleared up.

A Hidden Green Gem in the City

Clayton Vale is a fantastic escape from the hustle and bustle of Manchester, offering a peaceful and scenic retreat. The area is beautifully maintained, with lush greenery, woodland trails, and the calming River Medlock running through it. It’s a great spot for walking, running, or simply enjoying nature.

The mountain bike trails are a highlight, catering to all skill levels with well-marked routes that provide an exciting challenge for cyclists. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced rider, there's something for everyone. Families will also appreciate the picnic spots and the accessible paths for strollers and young children.

Wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy spotting birds and other animals in this quiet, natural setting. It’s also an excellent spot for photography, especially during the autumn months when the trees are ablaze with color.

The only downside is that facilities like toilets and cafes are limited, so it's best to come prepared. Parking can also be tricky during busy periods, but it's well worth the effort for a day out immersed in nature.

Clayton Vale is a hidden gem for outdoor lovers and a wonderful green space for all ages to explore. Highly...

A great novice/beginner mountain bike trail, with a couple of short yet challenging areas for more intermediate or advanced riders.

I found that I was able to hone my skills here to help prepare for bigger more challenging rides such as gisburn Forrest or Lee Quarry.

You'll be welcomed with: Clear signage Berms Short rock beds Quite smooth riding terrain in the main Lots of trees and greenery for a city centre trail Only one very short run with drops (black)

The blue/dark blue trail is fun and windy, with short up and down hill segments, laid out in a loop around the park.

The couple of red and orange routes are probably more on par with dark blue routes at bigger trail centres.

I didn't show my full skillset on the black route in case I broke something ... Like my will 😂

All in all a good 1-2 hour ride out, but a word of warning for serious pro riders this is just good for warming up or practice, not for a full...
