If you want to get away from the flat sands of Woolacombe and take in a beach with more dramatic surroundings then Hele is a good shout. As the tide goes out you are able to explore numerous rock pools and the kids can enjoy rock hopping. Also a great spot for paddle boarding or kayaking. Parking is cheap, very cheap compared to Woolacombe, but there is a height restriction so larger campers may struggle. We managed to get a free spot on the road.

Some pebbles going down to sand by the sea, it seemed quite nice but weather was bad so didn't stay long. It was very quiet but again probably due to the weather. Some local people on the approach road did appear to glare at you making you feel like you shouldn't be there. But I would return as I'd like to experience the beach in better weather. There was a little cafe which looked like it was closing so didn't go in and toilets.

Small beach with rough sand and pebbles. Seems very popular with dog walkers. You can hire kayaks and there is a cafe and public toilets. The beach got quite busy when we were there. The best time was early morning or evening when it was quieter. There are rock pools to explore when the tide is out. The main sunset is blocked by the cliffs, but you still get a nice orange glow as the sun goes down.

We've passed by this beach so many times on the main road without visiting, and were very pleasantly surprised when we actually took a trip down here. As previously mentioned - parking is very cheap! Short distance to the beach & cafe with the pub right alongside the car park. Public toilets adjacent to the beach too. We found the fuel station & shop handy on our day there, as the cafe was closed at the time. Lovely secluded sandy cove - ideal for a swim. Coastal path leads right from the slipway up onto the cliff tops. We'll...
