We attended on Saturday for my son's 15th birthday. We had 9 teenagers (age 13-16) and then an 8 year old (accompanied by me). They all thoroughly enjoyed it and it was definitely a success. Booking in advance was easy. We had booked for Tattershall Lakes but as this opened after our booking they allowed us to swap as this one was nearer for us. Hiring wetsuits was easy. If you book wetsuits beforehand then there is no refund however. We left it until the day to book wetsuits just in case numbers changed and this was better. Some of us took our own wetsuits which was also fine. Some other people just went in swimming costumes which was also allowed. Helmets and lifejackets are worn by everybody and included in the price. The session started with an amusing video briefing about safety. It was then a grassy walk of about 10 yards to a wooden walkway. We jumped in from there or could climb down steps into the water. Yes the water was cold but I never noticed it again. It was just initially getting in. We then had a swim of about 20 metres to get to the inflatable water park. You then have to have enough upper body strength to lift yourself up onto the park. I discovered that I don't have this! I had to be pulled up by my daughter and a random stranger. The waterpark itself is very slippy and adds to the fun. The kids all loved this element but I found it hard. I randomly slipped from standing still and almost did the splits. It hurt the next day! I also found it hard to balance but then maybe it's not designed for people in their 40s really. Our 8 year old sat on the cushion while her older brother jumped onto it. She went up extremely high and landed head first in the water. She was fine but didn't want to do it again and has had a sore neck for a couple of days since. So, be aware that a reasonable level of fitness is required to do this and there is a risk of injury, but that is part of the fun and there is no need to avoid all risk in life. There were plenty of changing rooms and plenty of lifeguards who were having to help people out who got stuck. They were definitely earning their money! We also appreciated that they were willing to hire a football for £10 returnable deposit. They have a field with football goals which was great while we were waiting but of course had not come prepared with a ball to a waterpark. The only thing I would improve is the availability of showers. We didn't see any. However, we didn't feel really dirty afterwards and despite me falling off and going completely under the water, my hair wasn't completely wet somehow. I think I looked a state going out for food...
Read moreAfter signing a waver, making sure I could use the park due to my medical stuff and being told sure as I didn't have any of the things mentioned in their , don't use if you have, section. I got suited and booted ready to go on. On my way down the wet muddy slope to the water, I needed help, I used my crutch to steady myself and a male employee can rushing down shouting, "excuse me, why are you using that" I stopped and turned as did others who then eyed me. The guy shouted, "yes with the crutch, why do you have that?!" I said well I have bad balance I don't wanna risk slipping in the mud, I'm using it to steady myself. To which he told me, "no we don't allow those on the inflatables". I said I understood that and it was to just go down the slope, he then let me know that, "you can't go on we don't allow people to use sticks in the water". This went back and fourth about how people don't use crutches to swim and therefore I would be leaving it on the bank. Nope, continued to ask me Infront of everyone really loudly, "what have you got?". I went back to the office said what happened and was then told yeah you can't go on , no sticks on the inflatables. I pointed out how I wasn't using it on the inflatables and it was for the muddy torn up grassy slope so I didn't slip. Nope. I was then told I couldn't go on dispite this person telling me prior then and there, and encouraging me the fortnight before when my kids went on, and the summer prior..... Suddenly changed their mind.
Never felt so embarrassed. I was then left, for an hour sat alone whilst my kids and their uncle went onto the park. I felt humiliated.
Wouldn't go here again. will go further afield next time
Scoring a 2/5 as my kids had fun every time apart from this time when they were left worried about their mum suddenly not...
Read moreMe and another went to this "waterpark" on a Wednesday, session was a little bit busier than I imagined. Wetsuits are for hire yet are just dipped in a bit of water and hung for the next user. Would recommend bringing your own swimwear. The wetsuits did not smell very nice whatsoever. Good range of sizes for helmets, wetsuits and lifejackets. But the helmets and lifejackets aren't even rinsed, just chucked into a crate for the next users. The changing area are like 2 sheds with a lockable door and a bench. Portapottys are on site rather than a toilet block. Dont bother paying for a lock for the lockers as no-one touched our stuff anyway whilst the locker being just closed. We were given a safety talk then we were told to go. We crossed a bridge and were told to jump in as the water "wasnt" cold. The receptionist told us it was 20⁰ but, it was extremely cold. As soon as I jumped in, I blacked out under the water, then when i woke up, i went into shock, no help from the lifeguards but one pulled me up onto the platforms for me to continue my session. It was a very good course but the water was very green and didn't smell very nice at all. If you fell in, it wasn't very nice as it made you really stink. It would be nice if there were showers on site to wash away the smell but most staff were nice 👍🏻. Sorry if this was very brutal but, I believe they can improve some of these features! Also, I would strongly recommend purchasing the grip socks and also I would recommend bringing some crocs, sliders or flip-flops because the gravel really hurt my feet 😁. Very good range of...
