where to start with the wonderful Boathouse ... let's get the prosaic stuff out of the way first, this cafe serves 200 Degrees coffee, Nottingham's finest, so every coffee is guaranteed to be on point (trust me, I'm a certified barista) ...
the cafe is situated between two stunningly clear lakes in a very secluded spot, despite it's proximity to the main road and the A46 ...
ok, the stuff that makes the difference here ... the cake selection is diverse (and lush), easily something for every palate ... the other food items look great too, family and friends tell me it's ace ...
the best bit though, the service and staff ... we're (myself and Roxy the dog) are frequent visitors and get looked after like family, that's the highest praise we can give ... always a pleasure to spend a few minutes or a couple of hours, plenty of space to play ball with Roxy (who also gets massively fussed over) ...
we only frequent places that we rate five stars, the Boathouse delivers this and more every visit ...
special shout-out to the following (Megan, you're going to be last on the list after doing the dirty on poor Charlie) ... genuine thanks to Charlie, Fallon, Kerri, Bea, and last (and maybe least) Megan, the self-proclaimed best one ...
seriously, thanks from us both for making every visit an absolute...
Read moreVery Poor first experience. No menus to study no table numbering system slightly chaotic we ordered 2 coffees 2 cakes in a queue so no time to consider what to have. After quite a wait order arrived with a cake missing waitress said there's probably none left you'll have to go and choose another one, by this time large queue had formed. My husband queued for 10 mins then gave up. Wrong order should have been rectified by staff straightaway we shouldn't have had to queue again especially as our coffees has arrived. We don't know if weve paid for a cake we didn't get because we couldn't see any...
Read moreThoroughly enjoyed lunch here with my friend. We couldn't decide which toastie to go for, so we asked if we could have half of one each and chose bacon and brie, and a cheese one. Lovely service and totally delicious. We each also had half a slice of gateau; again, really scrummy 😋 Two coffees for my friend, and a coffee and later a tea for me. All beautifully presented and served by happy staff. The only tiny downside was, when it's very busy with many conversations going on, it's a tad difficult to hear each other. Fabulous setting and a great place to spend a...
