We did Cryptic escape a little while ago (before Covid). We rang on the doorbell 3 times and they didn't answer. They kept us outside a good 20mins. The event started late and when we got in they apologised and said that they had been preparing the room. Would have been good if they could have told us this while we were waiting outside. We did the Pirate One. We both started in what appeared to be a gated cage in the basement, which was strange but interesting. The only thing was, it was heavily damp and the smell of mould was profound. I couldn't stop thinking about it the whole time I was locked in as I have previously had respiratory problems and I didn't want a flare up as a result of inhaling the mould. So that did hinder getting on with the task a little. There were only two of us and we did find it a little difficult. We received quite a few clues which was helpful, unfortunately we didn't escape the room. But it was good fun. Crazy how quickly the hour goes when you're in there trying to solve the puzzles. There were lots of clever coding patterns. We would go back but with a minimum of three...
Read moreWe have now done Dr levs and the Haunted. I did the Haunted one first which was brilliant, really clever technology, creepy and a interesting story.
I guess we went into the next room with really high expectations, as I was a little disappointed that it didn't seem believable that a mad scientist had been working in that room to me, as I was expecting it to look like a lab (as in the game room title), with experiments etc I known it was the first room but it could do with a update, as some of the items were too modern to be in keeping such as a certain poster and table. Sorry to sound critical but I think it would be easy to make this room look really good for not much money. And every lab needs a skeleton! I came out buzzing after the Haunted, but a bit deflated after this one, value for money felt very different.
However I am still looking forwards to doing the pirate room as well as the new one when that's ready. The staff were excellent both...
Read moreAfter finally finishing every escape room they have to offer at the tombland location (they just had to go make another location with more rooms to absolutely savage my bank account 😂) i have to say, cryptic is the best escape room company in norwich, it is consistently reliable on quality, guest services and theming (albeit for greenbeard however that is an old room that i have been assured is changing soon. So make sure to do it!)
I have to say, the best room they have to currently offer the haunted, followed by tomb of Akhenaten and finally greenbeard
Haunting has some of the best puzzle design i have ever seen, and wonderful theming
Tomb of Akhenaten is also brilliant with some wonderful set decoration and puzzles
Greenbeard is the most classic escape room but is still a lot of fun
Overall cryptic...
