We visited this Hindu temple in Oldham today for the first time with great expectations for Krishna Janmashtami , but unfortunately, our experience left us deeply saddened. The women in our group were mistreated by some of the women present—they were asked to move to the back, despite being among the first to enter the temple being with new borns and toddlers. Comments were also passed to them.
This made us feel discriminated against, simply because of our appearance and the fact that we come from the Uttarakhand hills. It gave us the impression that this temple is more for a closed community rather than being welcoming and inclusive for all Hindus.
Back home, we live near Badrinath, where people from all over the world come to worship, and everyone is embraced with love and respect. We had hoped to experience the same spirit of acceptance here, but sadly, our visit did not reflect that. If there were some rules then either should have been written some where or someone could have just explained nicely/ politely. We will not go...
Read moreBefore planning permission did they tell the locals they were going to be banging drums nonstop for around 3hrs especially on weekends starting around 6pm which the whole neighborhood can hear? It doesn't even sound like a melody it is one tone with not even a 2 minute break to take a breather. If it is meant to be for worship I am sure even the intent would be sufficient before doing it and so no need to be loud. Heaven knows how much louder it is for those living directly opposite. When you ring them to ask them kindly turn it down suddenly they can't understand English but carry on for years and it's only been open a few years. Guys if you read this please be more considerate or get sound proof windows, imagine if everyone was allowed to do the same on your doorstep, not a good look. Hopefully this message will sink in don't forget you represent your community as we all do and we all have rights to a peaceful life it is bad enough with the daily fireworks caused by other people also going on for years and similarly...

As a fellow muslim i respect all other religions & this is a beautiful temple to see every day, not forgetting the amazing parades that are being celebrated. Oldham is truly a place of a lot development that is needed, and this was very much needed. Can not wait for the sports facilities that are also going to be a huge part in...
