Single road access to a 10-15 car carpark. No payment needed. There are plenty of routes to take up the hillside but unfortunately they aren't well sign posted. You'd think the green arrows would show the easier routes and the red ones the tougher routes but it's actually the opposite way round or that's how I find it. There are no public access toilets in the area and nowhere to purchase drinks or snacks but if you manage to find your way to the top of the hill, the panoramic views are breath taking. I wouldn't want to try pushing a buggy up there or even around there as the paths aren't flat and it isn't easy to traverse unless you have some form of suspension. I have spotted a few cyclists on there and I imagine cycling round on a mountain bike would be great fun. So despite a few negatives I'm still giving this place 4/5 because it's a great place to visit if you have children or dogs. N.B. Be mindful of the white hogweed plants that grow in the area. It can be very painful and cause blisters...

At the bottom there is a dog walking field. To ruined manor is close but a little hidden, to find it you walk from the carpark back towards the exit and take the stairs to the left, follow the path and you'll find the manor. The ancient castle is at the top of the big hill. It is a VERY early castle so would essentially have been a single stone wall with huts inside. The huts are lost and the wall stone wall is mostly ruined. If you like castles and history you'll enjoy it as its a very early example, but if can to see a "castle" you may get more from the ruined manor house which while ruined still has walls, windows and fireplace etc intact. However, the view from the castle is hard to beat and there is a display at the top with info on the view and which is what mountain, and even as a local I...

Very enjoyable signposted circular walk which is relatively easy once you have walked up from the car park. Fantastic views of the Conwy valley, Penrhyn Bay, Rhos On Sea, Colwyn Bay and along the North Wales coast from the summit.

Good fruit picking opportunities in the late summer with an abundance of blackberries and sloes.

Small car park at the bottom of the hill which can fill up quick. Litter bins and dog poo bins are provided and emptied regularly.

The only downsides are that some people don't pick up after their dogs on the field near the car park and the steps can be quite...

Great place for a back to nature walk, lots of different paths snaking through everywhere. Stout footwear required as the paths can be muddy with stones and tree roots galore. Accessible from different areas, can be quite steep in places with step steps or just paths depending on where you walk. The dogs had a great time in here charging about. Worth the hike up to the summit at the hill fort for the fantastic views!

This is well and truly a gem of a place that offers solitude and tranquility in volume. The woodland walk is by far the best in my opinion, but also the added bonus of the ruins, the summit trail… and the views are profound. With plenty of nooks and crannies to explore it is a great place to have a hike or just a gentle ramble… or to just gather your thoughts. A local place to Rhos on Sea but nature at its best!
