Excellent for walking, fishing, dog walking, running, etc. A mix of areas, most paths are flat but there are some paths up banks. There's a large grassy field near the hall, and an area with long wild grass and flowers (with orchids/etc) between the parking and the hall. The rest is generally woodlands next to streams, rivers, weird, and ponds. There are some large old trees. The invasive himalayan balsam is everywhere. Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A hidden gem in Middleton! 🌳✨ Alkrington Woods Nature Reserve is one of the most peaceful and beautiful spots in Greater Manchester. The walking trails are clean, full of birdsong, and surrounded by tall trees that make you forget you’re so close to town. The air feels fresh, and the scenery—especially near the old red-brick building—is amazing in every season.
There are benches to sit and relax, perfect for families, joggers, or anyone who just wants to clear their mind and reconnect with nature. 🦋🌿
Highly recommended for locals and visitors — a real 5-star escape that deserves more...
