A beautifully maintained park with something for everyone – history, greenery, and great facilities. Baxter Park is one of Dundee’s finest public parks, offering a peaceful and scenic escape right in the city. Whether you’re visiting for a relaxing stroll, exercising, or spending time with family and friends, this park truly delivers. The park features wide open green spaces, tree-lined walking paths, and well-kept flower beds that bloom beautifully in spring and summer. At its heart stands the iconic Victorian pavilion, a historic sandstone building that gives the park a sense of charm and heritage. It also houses a café and community space, making it a social hub for locals. Recreational facilities are a big highlight – there are well-maintained tennis courts and netball courts, perfect for anyone looking to stay active or enjoy a casual game with friends. You’ll also find a small children’s play area, benches throughout, and plenty of space for jogging, picnicking, or just relaxing. The atmosphere is calm, safe, and welcoming, with regular visitors of all ages. The park is also occasionally used for community events, adding to its vibrant local feel. Whether you’re a local resident or a visitor to Dundee, Baxter Park is well worth a visit – a perfect mix of nature, history, and modern amenities.

Beautiful park! Lots of green open place on the south side, tennis and basketball courts on the southeast corner with couple picking tables and outdoor gym. In the middle of the park the Pavilion with a bit of history, you can read about it by the entrances on the information board. North of the park feels a bit more “wild” more trees there’s a very tiny pond (easy to miss). From the northeast corner you have great views of the park and even can see a bit of the River Tay. Beautiful park to have a short walk.

A nice green park in Dundee. There is a basketball court and a few tennis courts in the park. The atmosphere is great and it has a nice setup for a picnic. Sadly I saw a few dog messes in and around the park and it will be great if the council takes some strict measures to keep the park clean. The courts are crowded during the weekends.

beautiful and really big park. If you have a dog it's perfectly to go for a walk. However, if you want to avoid dogs, it's quite hard there because 90% of the dogs are just walking around without dog leash.

One negative aspect is, that there is no light and at later hours you cant see anything. So, I won't recommend walking through the park in the dark, when you are a young...
