This place is just amazingly beautiful. I did not know how much of a mood this old ancient buildings can give you , until I visited this place . There is so much secrets here ! And hidden history we might never know about . This church is in amazing shape considering it was build around 1200sh . What is more interesting is that here you can find graves across the centuries . Some inscriptions are still in Latin , others are old English , some quite recent like 1800 -1900 . But what is the most incredible is that some graves carry symbols of skull and bones ... I wish I knew who was buried under this grave plates ?!!! If as chronicles say that it was built around 1240 by Nobel man why this graves with skull and bones exist there at all ? and what this symbols really mean ? Oh! You have to see this...

Beauly is a beautiful wee town, with several restaurants, the Priory and surrounding area are full of history, legend has it Mary Queen of Scots named it the beautiful place when she visited. Beauly is the home town of the Lord Lovats imfamous 'Shimmi' Fraser of the 45" who was beheaded in London for his adherence to the Jacobite cause. The more recent famous Lovat was the war hero Brigadier Simon Christopher Joseph Fraser, 15th Lord Lovat and 4th Baron Lovat, DSO, MC, leader of many Commando raids during WWII, remembered famously for having his piper Bill Millin play on the beach during the...

A wonderfully curated site which forms part if the history of Scotland. When the sun shines on the stonework the atmosphere is eerie... walls shield away the housing surrounding the site which left me wanting to find out much more. Very little access to on site information should be weighed against obvious care to curate and present this free access site to the public. Do your homework before your visit to enjoy the Abbey to its...
