Gute Auswahl an verschiedenen Speisen. Vieles frisch zubereitet.

Beutifull hotel with nice clean rooms and a fine bathroom. Tea and a cookie is availible in the room for free. The hotel is near other restaurants and a ice cream place. The parking is decent. A beutifull priory is within walking distance open 24/7 The breakfast at the hotel is a menu you can order from and they have everything you can imagen a british breakfast has to offer.

Hotel is in nice quiet wee place. Rooms are clean comfy. I had an evening meal which was very nice and breakfast which was decent as well. Only fault I'd give it is the sarchets of sauce and the small bowl of sauce in the morning I got for breakie. Just a pet hate of mine and would rather see the bottle. All in all. Defo be back when in the area

Honestly, I only ever write reviews when I feel I've had an over-the-top experience, and this was definitely over-the-top.

When I say that I mean, utterly horrendous.

Scenario: Me and a group of friends have been touring Scotland all day today...had'nt eaten all day since we were sight-seeing and were desperately looking for a good eat. Literally anything would've done...our very kind B&B offered a few close to town suggestions. We chose this place since it was closest.

Here's what me and my group of friends experienced tonight at dinner service: 1.) Oddly slimy fish--tasteless and off-putting with a lumpy wine sauce. 2.) Rubbery pale burgers--obviously processed/pre-frozen with wilting veggies. 3.) Zero service...they sat us, gave us our drinks/food and never came back. 4.) Servers cashed out everyone else in the restaurant at their tables, except us who they told to go up to the bar. 5.) Servers were watching YouTube videos--all huddled in a corner even though we never even got a single waiter to come check up on us. 6.) As drinks were brought to us, I asked for another set of bread (as ours was stale) and the waitress went to another table (who's bread has also been sitting there for a while) and simply gave us that instead. 7.) While we were waiting to be checked out (which took literally forever) we watched a fumbling and obviously inexperienced bartender try to make the customer in front of us happy--could'nt even pour a beer correctly it was hilariously awful. Had to eventually ask to be checked out at a different register because it was taking so long. 8.) The restaurant was not busy at -all- and we got sat in the furthest back corner of the building nearest the kitchen door entrance...even though 70% of the tables were unoccupied. 9.) No "Thank you's" "goodbyes" or any other normal courtesy behaviors. 10.) Temperature of the food was hot on the inside and cold on the outside. Evidently microwaved as our dishes were all heated unevenly--freezing on the corners and piping hot in other parts.

Honestly, one of my friends tonight isn't feeling well. And has had in upset stomach ever since we got back. I HOPE he doesn't come down with something.

We are exhausted and have stayed up way too late writing reviews--because we want to keep you, the reader AWAY.

We aren't going to let this horrible experience put our expectations of Scotland's cuisine down, but believe we will ALWAYS reference this place as the #1 restaurant...

This was probably one of the worst meals of my life... And I've eaten at Long John Silver's. I had ordered the fried haddock and what I got was far worse than what I could have imagined.

It started off with being asked if my party of 4 had reservations, which traveling to a unknown part of Scotland for the first time, we did not. Even with a FAR less-than-half-filled dining area we were left to wait 5 minutes to be seated... in a corner... behind the wall of the kitchen door.

The service itself was despicable: a multitude of servers with one time appearances, no water refills, they didn't even come by to see how the meal was or see if we needed another glass of wine to wash down the slop they fed us:

  1. The complimentary bread provided was stale slivers of the heel of loaves of bread.
  2. The soup (cream of broccoli) was a small container of tasteless liquid.
  3. The side salad was wilted and was completely dry, no dressing whatsoever.
  4. The fish... Oh God, the fish... was AT LEAST a 60/40 breading to fish ratio. The fish (what little there actually was) was wet and the breading was soggy.

The rest of the table's food was just as disgusting (beef burger, steak pie, and salmon in white wine sauce). After finishing what they want you to think was food, we waited at our table for roughly 10 minutes before we decided to find a place to pay. We were forced to ask a completely different sever where to pay and were directed to the bar where a COMPLETELY inexperienced bartender was attempting to fill an order. After waiting another 5 minutes, we had to ask one of the multiple staff members in the front of house watching videos on a phone to finally cash out.

No "thank you"s, no "sorry", no "goodnight" or "goodbye"; absolutely no life was in our experience tonight. I came here to try fresh fish, but what I got came out of a microwave. This was awful and my stomach feels awful - DO...

Put it simple and sweet: do not bother going here if you like food. It'll break your heart and kill your tastebuds. Here are several issues we had:

  1. We apparently needed a reservation prior to coming (even though the restaurant was less than 25% full) and when we were finally seated we were sat in the furthest corner of the restaurant hidden behind the kitchen doors and sat at an 8 seater table for our tiny group of 4.
  2. Revolving door of servers constantly. Never the same person for whatever reason they came by (prior to getting out food)
  3. Food. Dear lord, it was all atrocious. Two different fish dishes and 2 different beef dishes. All cooked, well microwaved actually, to death and as a result most of our group are already feeling sick from eating soggy fish and frozen beef.
  4. After we finally finished eating, out of necessity rather than enjoyment, we sat around waiting for any of the many servers to come give us a bill. Unfortunately did not happen and we had to hunt someone down who directed us to pay at the bar (even though the woman we asked was already at a register?)
  5. Servers walked by us standing in a line behind a couple ordering drinks from a VERY inexperienced bartender (who kept dumping drinks our to start over). Others flocked to the front desk more feet from us and watched videos on their phones together and ignored us awkwardly looking around for help. 6)Once again we had to chase someone down to pay and she made us go to yet again another register and was completely nonchalant about everything. She merely had the whole 'pay your bill and leave' attitude with us. No how was it, any dessert, etc. To sum it up : the food was horrid and the servers ignored our very existence unless we hounded after them. All in all the worst dining experience ever and definitely recommend driving on...
