We have ordered takeout from here for over 2 years and for the most part it's been ok, it's been a bit of a hit or miss depending on who cooks I guess, but it had never been bad, however we ordered last night and some of what came was not edible. I don't know if it's a new owner, chef or supplier but it has rapidly declined in quality and taste.
The chicken tikka was ok, but the meat samosas were vile, I mean inedible, I don't know if someone spilled detergent in the mix or they changed supplier but they were awful, it's not a case of too much coriander, I love the stuff, they literally tasted of detergent, they had a bad taste like they were off, and had weird white lumpy bits that wasn't potato, after trying one the rest were not eaten and binned, the dansak was lacking in body, where were the lentils and chickpeas? Probably two of the cheapest ingredients to cook with, the sauce was lacking. Add to that they no longer add on spiced onions and poppadoms automatically to your order, which usually came with every other order regardless if they were requested or not so that was another disappointment. We spent some of last night with stomach cramps, and not feeling too sprightly today either. As I've said it's usually been ok, but with the quality of food declining and the prices rising, it will be a long time before we consider ordering again, if ever.
UPDATE;
Since this review we have ordered a few times recently, though it had been 5 months or so since the order that sparked the review, while I have not tried the meat samosa yet, I'm just not ready for that potential level of disappointment again, everything else we have ordered has been really good, the dhansak had body, chicken pakora have a deliciously light and crispy coating, and the meat is tender, very flavourful dishes, which makes my husband and myself happy because we really like Indian food, also want to note that the menu has very clearly defined allergens next to each dish which is helpful with a new dairy intolerance, it's easy to identify what I can and can't eat. So I have updated the star rating...
Read moreWife called to place an order, the man at the other end of the line answered the phone with a "hello, what do you want" this took her by surprise as staff had usually always been pleasant answering the phone using the name of the restaurant and politely asking how they could help, but not that night, she enquired if she had called the right number, he said yes and again "what do you want" with an angry tone as if she had disturbed him from something more important, my wife replied that she would like to place an order for delivery if that was ok, she then heard a conversation between the person on the phone and another man in the background in a language she didn't understand, again rude, and then an abrupt no and then they hung up. If that's how they treat customers or potential customers how are they still in business? If you are having a bad day don't take it out on your customers, rude and quite frankly uncalled for behaviour. We don't expect an apology, that would only lead to another...
Read moreJust received a delivery to our location at inchmore. Was ok to pay the delivery charge, as we are outside the delivery radius. I have never been so disappointed in Indian takeout. I ordered a chicken biryani & tandoori deluxe, where do I start with the review…???!!! The tandoori chicken pieces were tough, the lamb did not taste like lamb, the tandoori chicken leg, although thoroughly marinated in red food colouring, once cut the meat was grey… leads me to think the meat had been sitting for a while, ie was not fresh. The chicken biryani tasted very lemony, the accompanied bhuna sauce looked like stew, ie watery, full of oil & zero flavour. The whole order was binned within 5mins of delivery… I would not feed this food to my dog Max. Absolutely terrible, unsure how you are able to serve food that is of poor quality! PS. We are born & bred British Asians, and grown up with true Indian food. PPS. I wish I never bothered ordering in the first place. CAUTION to the people of Inverness…order at...
