Got a tour around this space yesterday by some super welcoming developers. I'd say it's a really great space, felt somewhat in the early stages but it's a huge area and it will take some time for the trees to fully mature and for the place to be at it's best. There's a very lovely clean and modern building just passed the entrance sculpture called The Bothy, it has public toilets in there. Further in there's some big boulders for climbers to use, some nice sculptural pieces, a fantastic tower structure called The Tur which gives some great views of the Loop and beyond and it's wheelchair accessible to the half way point. There's a nice wooden walkway alongside the river. Apparently they have otters in the Clyde there, a seal has been spotted, there is a Badger set within the trees, kids play areas and other bits n bobs, shelters, butterfly area which wasn't apparent at this time of yr but in summer the plants will be up and blooming and the butterflies will be all over them I'm sure. The are a number of old mining boreholes being used by Industry in tandem with Uni scientists to develop optimal Geothermal energy systems which is really forward thinking and inspiring. The Geothermal borehole sites are fenced off and the whole site has been made safe for families. It's connected pretty well to the cycle paths. I'll definitely be back on my bike to check the Cunningar Loop out in high summer, see the trees and flowers in full bloom and see what animals and insects...

It's one of the best initiatives the governments done as far as I'm concerned totally revamped this whole area and it's surroundings to do this side of the city justice and I must say they have made a marvelous job in recreating a little bit of forestry paradise for all who want to adventure and experience it . It's well planned out and will keep you busy with the kids like nowhere I can think of for miles that's for sure ! I have stopped at the little centre and had Ice - cream and water when it's a little hot to handle as the sun on its brightest days can catch you out if your not prepared .. Take plenty of water with you or use the venues on offer for refreshments and other food and beverages I would highly recommend this to you and your family members It won't disappoint that's...
Read moreA great location with diverse outdoor activities for kids. Cycle tracks, bouldering and adventure playground. The board walk along the Clyde is a nice short walk for the family with young kids. Also quite away from the water and fairly safe.
Cycling is nicely set up and was well used by toddlers on balance bikes. There is a pump track. Also bigger tracks for older kids.
The bouldering is neatly set out, with little guides on how to approach your climb. Simply brilliant. Nice to see some thought going into this.
There is a cafe to get toasties, wraps, sandwiches and drinks. Also an ice cream van.
The adventure playground is fairly large and lots to climb and play on. Best to see photos than me describing.
There is a free car park for around 30 cars.
There are toilets in the form of a portakabin style. There is baby change in one of them.
I went on a Sunday and there were staff on site cleaning the area.
All in all great for...
