We visited here while we were on holiday in the area. The staff were very friendly and were on hand to explain all about the various items.

There is a comprehensive collection of local and regional items.

It's not a huge building but it's quirky with several different areas including an upstairs room. The rooms are PACKED with things.

We spent about 40-50 minutes here and the museum was dog friendly too.

Perhaps something like a 'can you find an item which...' puzzle for each area might be nice. It was quite overwhelming not knowing where to look because there was so much in there!

As a non-local, I found the most interesting parts to be those which explained more specifically about the history of Dalbeattie...

Overwhelming! A lot of past things you wouldn't find anywhere else in that density, but you would be able to find everywhere in the country as well. A treasure trove for the film industry for props. I love the fact that they honour all these donations and that it is run by volunteers and keep the past alive. I would have loved to see items used to underline the town specific history how the harbour was essential in the past and the impact of the granite industry past and present and how the proximity to the border played a role. My lasting impression was, a lot of stuff and one former town inhabitant served on...

Only open April-October An excellent community museum run by welcoming senior volunteers. Showcasing many products and items from days gone by, as well as local history photographs and information. Additional information, insight, and stories can be obtained from The learned volunteers with many a year of recollection. Recently extended into the corner retail unit, what looks from the entrance as a shop leads onto many alcoves and display areas, as well as stairs to the upper floor containing large display cases. Totally free, but you’ll be happy to leave a donation, for memories that are all to...

Wonderful museum spent almost 2 hrs there with my dad who is 92 and could have stayed all day. So many memories flooding back at the huge amount of items on display. Made all the more interesting by Pete and Joe, volunteers with the trust, both very knowledgeable and very welcoming. Well worth a visit No charge but well worth a donation

We thoroughly recommend this wonderful little museum of curiosities, we were lost in time for over an hour exploring all their treasures and enjoying the guidance and tales from their experienced volunteers. A must see museum! Thank you, look forward to next time!
