Photogenic ruined tower on a rocky promontory, with great views along the coast in both directions and across the water to Bass Rock and the distant hills. The tower was built in 1770 for Lady Janet Anstruther, and today stands as a prominent landmark on this rugged section of the Fife Coastal Path. Sandy beaches, volcanic rocks and the small lighthouse just along the coast mean this corner of the coastline is well worth visiting, and it's a great place to see some marine life if you wait a while. There's parking about 10-15 minutes walk along the coast just above Ruby Bay at Elie, and the path from here is fairly...

Below it be sure to check out the cave built for her around the same time for changing clothes and drying off after swimming. Lovely beaches either side and the lighthouse to visit. Plenty benches for sitting taking in the views and lots of space for parking nearby. Gentle walk...
