Went along to Elie to start to learn paddle boarding, having invested in the required kit from Lidl. What a fabulous beautiful place. On the day I visited the sun was shining and the water on the bays either side of the harbour were Absolutely flat calm. I chose to paddle to the left bay looking out to sea as it was quieter. This provided perfect conditions….the water was shallow and refreshing without being too cold. Whilst a few other people were also paddle boarding it was still quiet enough not to feel intimidated but with a few people to watch and learn from. I actually managed to stand up and paddle round this bay. I inevitably fell off a few times. As it’s very shallow be careful as it is quite rocky and this can be covered in sea weed. All in a fab successful return to paddle boarding. It can get busy there is free and paid parking, cafes and comfort break facilities. Other beach users and paddle boarders were super friendly it was very very clean and...
Read moreA wonderful place to spend a sunny afternoon. Has always been one of my favourite beaches and is the first place we head to when the weather is nice. Elie watersports offer several different experiences and also hire wetsuits. There is also a unique horsebox sauna that can be hired with views overlooking the beach. The Ship Inn is also well worth a visit and the Beach BBQ area (if you can get a seat) offers lovely views over to Earlsferry and beyond. They play beach cricket there on weekends. Unfortunately the takeawaycafe attached to the car park was closed. On a beautiful June summers afternoon this seemed rather strange as the car park was near full to capacity. Possibly it's a seasonal thing. The Harbour Cafe which featured on a Hairy Bikers programme now seems to have permanently closed. Overall one of the nicest beaches in Fife and has something to offer...
Read moreAlong with Earlsferry Beach, these are two of the best beaches you could visit. I have been coming here for over 30 years as my gran lives in Elie and lives minutes from the beach. Now I bring my own kids here and they love it. Collecting shells, exploring rockpools, visiting the lighthouse( that my grandad used to paint) and the Lady's Tower, building sandcastles, splashing in the sea. All you need is a picnic and you can spend all day here making free memories...
